98.9 using INFO display reading 107.7

Prior to Beck/Kimberly being in hot water this, but maybe not unrelated I was
noticing the in-dash display on my car reading/having an older car it was in 2 segments:


"98.9 the Buz- "/ "z- 107.7 FM"

I was wondering, both owned by Entercomm.
Both have a close / overlap playlist ...
Both serving WNY and covering where the other fades out....

this was happening about a month ago, but with the dissolve of the other
board, I didnt where to ask, except inbox a few radio/facebook friends...
then I remembered, this message board !!! (plus been busy with life and
my new born baby !)/ anyway... the 107.7 being displayed on 98.9 was
happening a month prior to the recent K &B controversy.

However, maybe the station was 'just waiting' and knowing some thing
would occur (or go forward with plans) to include K&B . . .

Any chance of a merge with 107.7/98.9 as a "super"/mega rock channel
(doing local breaks for traffic) but creating a rock network channel to
serve both markets? or just someone typing in the wrong field,
or just 'having fun'

thoughts?
 
Didn't the new PD for 107.7 come from "The Buzz"? Maybe he brought a hard drive full of stuff with him, and uploaded it without thinking that he had to clear some info fields in the database.

Wait a second - it is NOT 107.7 displaying 98.9

It is the BUZZ showing 107.7
 
The new PD for 107.7 Nik Rivers came from Stephens Media alternative 94.1 "The Zone" WZNE and Fickle 93.3 WFKL. The station info for RDS display on receivers is sent by TRE/The Radio Experience used by Entercom in a separate section from title/artist data...so anything put in by the PD would not show up in the station info/slogan fields.

Yea, he came from the zone...

BUT here is the really interesting part sir rox..

It is NOT 98.9 's former employee (as you thought) displaying on 107.7
It was, as I am not sure if it is still doing so,

98.9 displaying 107.7
 
Beats me. There are a lot of 98.9s out there. And 107.7s. Somebody must have gotten a hard drive from somewhere else, and failed to clean up the data entries.
