98.9 WSPA.....Going FRESH?

Heard a pretty long sweep on WSPA yesterday touting the format after Christmas...."the home of fresh soft rock" or something like that. Could they be purchasing the "fresh" moniker for use like some of the stations in the larger markets have been doing after WWFS/NYC started using the packaging?

Seems to me it's about time for WSPA to make some changes. It's been pretty much the same thing for a few years now. Maybe moving towards more of a 80s-90s-2000s Hot AC would be a good idea. Their playlist has been pretty similar to that anyway.

I think they just say stuff like that to distinguish themselves from My 102.5. Sometimes on the weekends they talk about not playing "the same tired songs from one decade" - an obvious reference to 102.5's 70's weekend.

But since 102.5 has higher ratings, it's obvious that people do like those songs.
