Here's today's 6 am to 9 am playlist for anyone who can't listen to this mess:

You all realize, do you not, that all those song titles are the text of a conversation "Kim" is having?

With whom, though? You be the judge...

KIM: "What Have You Done For Me Lately, Low Rider?"

Unknown person: "It's My Life!"

KIM: "Method Of Modern Love... My Favorite Mistake!"

Unknown person: "No More Words!"

KIM: "Tears In Heaven..."

Unknown person: "Heaven Is A Place On Earth!"

KIM: "Reminiscing..."

Unknown person: "Save Tonight!"

KIM: "Stuck With You? I Feel For You, Livin' La Vida Loca..."

Unknown person: "My Immortal..."

KIM: "Words Get In The Way, Beautiful--Return To Innocence..."

Unknown person: "More Than A Woman (You Are)!"

KIM: "Some Like It Hot! Just The Way It Is, Baby... Leather And Lace!"

Unknown person: "I Go Blind!"

KIM: "You Spin Me 'Round (Like A Record)... Your Body Is A Wonderland, Rhiannon... To Be With You--"

Unknown person: "Leave A Tender Moment Alone!"

KIM: "No Scrubs--Papa Don't Preach! Video Killed The Radio Star!"

Unknown person: "You Give Love A Bad Name!"

KIM: "We Don't Talk Anymore!"

Unknown person: "(Our Love's In) Jeopardy (Baby)... One Of Us--"

KIM: "One Thing Leads To Another... Rub You The Right Way, Angel Eyes?"

Unknown person: "(Why Do You Have To Go And Make Things So) Complicated?"

KIM: "I Love The Nightlife! Kiss Me, 'Conga'!"

Unknown person: "What Is Love?"

KIM: "Do You Believe In Love?"

Unknown person: "Got Your Money."

KIM: "Unwell..."

As bad as that is, come to Knoxville and listen to Citadel's "Earl FM" on 98.7. ::)

at first i didn't like this station then my wife and i realized they play more than the usual 20 or 30 80's or 90's songs you hear on most stations. yes there's Madonna but there's also The Jetts and some songs i haven't heard in a long time. i may like this station.

I just moved from Memphis to the Knoxville area last week and I love 98.7 Earl-FM. It's actually more like a classic hits station with good variety and no awful Huey Lewis-to-ODB segues. On the other hand I've listened to KIM-FMs online feed and as much as I dislike rap, I think I miss "Power 99"!!

while trying to figure out whats going on here in baton rouge i discover kim via the webplayer under classic hits. now i have a feeling what 103.3 may become tomorrow...sounds better tha then the previous diva down here..but that aint saying much

who set the processing... its awful no bass and the highs distort

females have more sensative ears surely they love the sound more than i do

What the heck? I just looked at the playlist on yes.net thinking "Oh, it can't be as bad as all that". Nope, it is. Then I listened to the stream. Yep, it's that bad.

And since it's a bad Citadel idea, I'm sure it'll be on the air in Birmingham soon enough. Even their three messes (WRAX, WUHT, WYSF) there sound better than this, though.

First off, whoever wrote that article on Memphisrap.com were just as clueless as some off the jocks and the interim PD at the time..Power 99 wasn't winning overall nor in demos and scored even worse in profitability and that was the bottom line. That article really hyped that ex-station up..This new KIM FM, not too bad..There's room for improvement, and surely they'll get better imaging soon. The station has a way to go, if they're going up against FM100 or 'RVR..It will be an interesting race..In conclusion, BRING SMOOTH JAZZ BACK TO 98.9 ..There, I'm done.

I don't know, but I just saw a story about the change on Action News 5.
Seems that the listeners are upset, and were forming a boycott.
I guess they were both really P.O.'d!
I'm kidding of course, but they really TRIED to make it sound like a big deal and that thousands were upset.
They showed one girl going in the door at the MRG building and talking to a receptionist.
If there were so many listeners, where were the ratings?

So, the previous audience thinks anyone's going to be shocked that they're boycotting the new format, like they expected them to continue to listen? I mean, if I'm not, say, K97's target audience, and I don't listen to them, I'm effectively boycotting them, right, and nobody would expect anything less. Somebody might as well point out to them that, unless they get their grandmothers to stop listening to 103.5 en masse (if any of them even do), they're just wasting their time. But it's all good publicity for Kim, of course--certainly more than she would've gotten otherwise--and she needs all the help she can get.

It must not be a stunt... going by the channel 5 report with the lobby shot of the control room window, they invested in etched glass with the new logo!

Whoever authorized that will have a nifty souvenir in 6 months. They can gaze lovingly at it after they get off work at Arby's.

So ONE listener went to the station to complain and Channel 5's cameras just happened to be there, huh?

I'm not sure what the relationship is today between radio and TV on Union, but in my time there that story would have been instigated in the radio PD's office...
