Such a long time ago from the days of "98 Gold" out in the undeveloped fields of the Atlantic Ext. when the station's neighbor was the Cheetah lounge (which is still there).
Of course, that was the WBSS and WPIP days. I am sure others, here, go back further, when it went on in the air late '50s. Ugh, those "motivation" format days, yikes.
Yes, you are so right about Radio Nouvelle Lumiere!
That runs, not only on WPBR 1340 down here, but on WTPA 1520 Tampa and WNDO 1520 Orlando. (Does the programming originate out of WPBR or one of the other two? Is it brokered, or staffed?)
Yeah, WPBR has two FM translators, but you still can't pick them up in anywhere Broward. So, yeah, Sam Rogatinsky’s HMDF LLC picked themselves up a Broward signal -- and a decent one at that. So I see WWNN being their RNL Broward outlet against the West Palm outlet with WPBR. I bet, in time, Rogatinksy will pick up a Miami-Dade stick.
I wish Rogatinsky luck and hope the diplex off WNNN 1470's towers work out. At least he's keeping the AM dial viable. The programming doesn't appeal to me, but still, it does to someone, and seems to be a healthy "network" operation.
I do want to note: Rogatinsky has, four, I think, LPFM's in Broward. They're all ethnic-based; the one is Gridlock Radio and plays Cabibbean-centric rap and hip-hop. I want to say another is "The Grind (?), but I think Gridlock Radio runs on all of those LPFMs. Of course, I only hear them if I scanning the dial and lock on them, for listening curiosities.
At only 2500-d/250-n, I guess WSBR is the ugly duck of the pond and will never come back to the airwaves.
