XENVA is a place holder call used many times in international notifications. The NVA stands for "nueva" or "new" and these notifications are mostly done to stop the US using all the frequencies on the border or pumpling high power towards Mexico.

Mexico for decades has been limited in what it can do on AM in the states at or near the border because US radio developed earlier and stations from Louisiana to California protect other US stations by shoving their night signals towards Mexico.

I have never seen the US reserve potential operations this way. This is distinctly Mexican, and obviously an effort to prevent someone int he US from fileing for a station on the same frequency near the border.

Canada has been eliminating AMs quite agressively, but they preserve the notification so no US station can improve facilities or create a new station in the protected areas.

Those are CPs that have not had calls assigned.

Indeed there are "placeholdes" listed as "NEW" in the FCC database.

For example, put Facility ID 99196 into the CDBS search. Been in the database since 17-Jan 1984 and is in the International tab as "USCAN Proposed".

1 kw NDA Day/night in Weyser ID. (Weiser's spelled wrong in the FCC database.)

Ask any consulting engineer about them.

O records Shown.

I never saw any of these, but I guess I never looked. Are these pending competitve applications, by any chance? I just never heard of an allocation on AM that was not "created" by somewone applying for it. If there is a competive app, it would "exist" as an unspecified facility, since each applicant would be potentially for a different facility.

Is there an application?

The FCC database only shows a licensed station for that city.

Wrong search engine. go to:

No. The FCC put it in as a theoretical.

These are place holders negotiated in the agreement between Canada and the US.
There is thusly no application. The one on 990 is for sure a placeholder. I had a consulting firm suggest it before the AM Auction happened. A lot of the place holders have been taken by stations since they were negotiated and most recently the AM Auction.
