Where I'm at it's a clean signal with my Grundig YB400PE with my antanna up, Glad to hear my fave station

Comes in most of the time on my Walkman when I'm out, While waiting for the bus in the city I can pick it up on my Kaito KA321 again with the antanna up, The signal drops when I go on the bus

End, I really love listening to S.F station in Sacramento

98.1,97.3, 96.5 and 106.9 gets out, I also beleave you it wasn't Tropo making the stations come in well, It all depends on the antanna where it's point it
 
That's good reception for that distance if it's constant and not tropo.

It would be like me being able to get Orlando FM stations that well in Tampa and there's not a trace of them on my Walkman unless there's some tropo enhancement.

Even on my Sangean PR-D5, only a couple Orlando stations can be heard with weak signals during normal conditions.

I wonder if it has to do with the height of the broadcast towers of those stations.

When I was up in Orlando, I could hear 93.3 FLZ from Tampa on my walkman all the time but their tower is extremely high.

Most Tampa stations make it across the state to Melbourne, even to Daytona in my car. I had a GE SR-2 at the time, and Tampa stations came in both Daytona and Melbourne. When I was in Daytona, I could get most Jacksonville FM. When I was in Melbourne, a couple of West Palm stations came in on my portable. I was most interested in WAY-FM, which was very weak in the Melbourne area.

My experience has shown that unless there's some tropo, most Tampa stations can't be heard on my car radio on the east coast.

933 FLZ is the strongest Tampa station, IMO, and is always listenable on the car radio after passing through Orlando and then starts to get really choppy between there and the exit where I-4 meets I-95.

But all it takes is a little nighttime or morning tropo enhancement and it's easily heard in Daytona.

I used to get into Orlando on a semi-regular basis, and most of the Tampa Bay area full-facility FMs were fairly easy duty there with a good radio. Can't speak to the east coast, however.

Where are the Orlando big sticks located? Aren't most of them northeast of town towards Daytona? If so, that could be the problem hearing the Orlando FMs in Tampa. I certainly can't recall hearing FM from Orlando at the place where we stay in St. Pete Beach....which is three stories up in a relatively open area.

107.7, 103.7 and 101.3

Those 3 stations need help from Tropo Enhancement

But Tropo Enhancement does help KISQ most of the times to make it like a local, 997 now, I get it weak, But again I got 99.9 & 99.5 smushed between KMVQ

Some of their sticks are near Orlando.

Like XL 106.7 . They are 100,000 Watts at almost 1,000 feet and I can't hear them at all on a day like today on my Sangean PR-D5 with no tropo enhancement.

All I get is spillover from the closer 106.5.

Here's the radio locator map for XL 106.7 and according to it, I should be able to hear some of them but I can't.

Interesting.

According to radio locator, 107.7 and 103.7 are less than 10,000 watts but 101.3 is 125,000 watts and all three are about the same height and their transmitters are close to each other.
