98Rocks in S'port power

Did they lose most of it???? I recently moved back to east Texas and the signal used to be fine almost to Tyler...Now you have to be in Marshall to get it even in the car.

Plus, it would appear they are using the old channel 6 TV antenna -- which I would guess is a batwing, meaning horizontal-only polarization. Which in turn means car (vertical whip) antennas might be at a further reception disadvantage.

Pretty neat idea to use the old TV antenna though, even if they're 10 Mhz off the top end of the channel 6 band. I've heard of at least one non-comm FM that was diplexed into a channel 6 antenna on a full-time basis, and the legend was that NOLA's Q93 (WQUE, formerly WDSU-FM) was run in the same manner off of WDSU 6's antenna.

Thanks for the info, btw I was able to hear KTAL in Texarkana just fine two weeks ago clear to around Hope Arkansas when it started fading. The old Batwing seems to be a tight north-south pattern.

And I saw a CP for KTAL-FM to install a higher non-directional antenna. http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?call=KTAL&x=0&y=0&sr=Y&s=C

Could this be the hangup on why KTAL-FM hasn't yet returned to 100K? (Or is Abcess One just dragging their financial heels on upgrading?)
