How has it changed formats? As far as I'm concerned, it's still playing Mexican Classic Hits.

It's playing very current young adult regional Mexican hits and very little gold. There is not one song in common with the old format.
Identnut said:What's the difference between this station and La Qué Buena, anyways?
DavidEduardo said:Qué Buena has a mostly talk show in the morning, and plays traditional regional; La Jefa is music intensive all day and plays a different variety of regional Mexican.
"Regional Mexican" is a record industry term used in the US and not in Mexico. It "consolidates" in one name various genres such as norteña, banda, cumbia grupera, cumbia norteña, sonidera, durangüense, ranchera, sierreño, etc., in one broad category to make it easier for non-Hispanic music retailers who would not understand the variants.
