99.1 99x to increase power

What exactly is the issue with Album 88 vs. 99.1? Some kind of harmonic?

88.5 and 99.1 are seperated by 10.6 mHz, which is close to a common <almost universal> IF (Intermediate Frequency) frequency in FM Radios. The IF of some radios can radiate a small signal which would interfere with radios listening to the other signal. The FCC generally likes to keep these types of issues isolated. By running the translator at 99 watts, you can "ignore" this issue. I beleive this rule can be ignored by anything running less than 100 watts.

Clear as that mud I just drove thru.

So will this mean that "we on the south side" will have a clearer 99x signal in the coming weeks or will there still be a wrasslin' match between 99x and the country station out of Macon?

From what I understand, 99.3 WCON Cornelia, which already has a prett decent Northside signal, can move 15 miles closer to Atlanta. If Q100 were to downgrade to a C-1, they could move even closer. WOuld be a good move for Cumulus to make a deal for that stick.

99.1 is WDEN in Macon,a Cumulus station,I don't know how that will work.

WDEN is not a factor in WCON moving further South.

Using my 12" Coca-Cola ruler and Wal-Mart compass, WCON can move roughly 14.5 miles closer toward Atlanta...nobody has to downgrade. Now, if Cumulus wanted to buy it and downgrade WWWQ, that could make it a full-market player. If WDEN was also downgraded, it makes an Atlanta move-in easier, and with less interference.

For that scenario to work, the Fosters would need a replacement signal for 99.3. WNGA at Helen would seem to be the most logical, but I don't know that Art Sutton would sell it. Of course, money talks...

I also see where WAZX-FM/Cleveland has a CP to move about 10 miles closer to northeast Atlanta. Hmmm.

Wouldn't WCON 1450 take care of the city of license issue?

If I'm not mistaken, the 14.5 mile move South would not deprive Cornelia of City Grade coverage.

WNGA has a CP to go from 1700W/A to 7000W/C3 and a CoL move to Clermont, on the same tower.

I think I was thinking the Fosters would sell 99.3 to an Atlanta-based operator (Cumulus?), and would need to replace their local FM signal.
