Looks like Reno will have a new country station soon! "My Country" 99.1 KCMY licensed to Gardnerville-Minden has just been approved for a class C3 upgrade. The station is currently broadcasting from Kingsbury Grade on the western side of the Carson Valley. Soon the station will be moving to Mcclellan Peak onto the KWNZ tower. This will give KCMY much improved signal in Carson City and will add Reno to it's coverage map. KCMY is owned by the Evans broadcast group and is siter station to KPTL AM 1300 in Carson City.

Will this have any effect on KBUL or 94.5?

Haven't heard of any changes. Don't think the Gardnerville station will impact either KBUL or 945. If by chance they do, it will only be minimal. They are on the bird, the other two are live most of the time and at least both are part of the community. KBUL has always done a great job of servicing their listening audience and 945 is starting to learn the ways of the bull, and slowly carving out their own piece of the pie. There's room for both in the area, but not for the Gardnerville station. They should take that one classic country and possibly get some listeners that way, not many but a few. Country just isn't as big now.
