I take that back. Actually right now it's mixed English and Spanish Christian music. The audio quality on this thing is great! Sounds uncompressed or almost that to me. http://sndup.net/2gnq/d
I like some of the English stuff but I don't speak Spanish. But to me all the music seems catchy.
Haven't heard it since my last post. I believe they're finished testing.
I wonder if they'll come on for real, before the start of 2016. Looks like I'm the only one in town interested in the new station though.
No that is 99.9 KAPV-LP. I haven't heard that one testing yet, but there is a translator on 99.9 trying to hop into the middle of town as well. I'm not sure what will happen but I think the LPFM wins over the translator in these situations.
I haven't heard the translator broadcasting either, in fact.
It's a push, Mouse. Neither has to protect the other, but both have to protect a Class A or better on a co-channel, 1st, 2nd, and to a degree 3rd channel adjacent. If the translator has a better facility, the LPFM will have to move on to a new home. Classes D & L are basically subject to whatever interference comes their way. The price you pay for being a small timer, I'm afraid.
It is my understanding translators and LPFMs are on equal footing. I would think both would have to accept any interference. A remedy to relocate would likely be welcomed at the FCC as it allows both to seek the true coverage their class allows.
I am hearing 99.1 back on the air, they are now playing mostly Spanish Christian music, I did hear an English Gospel song though. It's mostly Spanish Christian rap, Spanish Christian pop, some Christian Tejano, and other types of Spanish music. Still no ID or anything but they're probably getting those ready.
It seems to be mainly a Spanish Christian format now. I've heard one or two more English black Gospel songs (not sure of better words), but most are Spanish. This is a little sloppier than last test. They still haven't given an ID or a legal ID, and the audio on 99.1 sounds distorted on some songs because of too much trebble. They aren't using any compression, so some songs are louder than others. They may wanna look into something like Stereo Tool if they can't afford a compressor, it would really help them out audio wise.
Also I've heard several songs that sound as if the lead vocals are missing, why would they be playing the karaoke versions on air?
