99.5 Chuck FM

Tower Above Media has filed a displacement application for 97.7 W249CB Greenville, SC to relocate to 99.5 due to the pending upgrade of WMGZ Eatonton, GA. The translator, which is operated by Cox Media as Variety Hits “97.7 Chuck-FM” will see no changes to its facilities.

The downside to translators. If there's any interference, they are at the fully-licensed signals' mercy, so they have to move. If there is interference between the translator and full powered station, it's the translator's job to move. Yes they are moving to 99.5.

Good luck trying to get 99.5 from Spartanburg and eastward....
WBT-FM bleeds into 99.5 up this way. :-[

Also I don't see a CP granted for WMGZ yet, just an application to upgrade to a class C1
with the projected 60dbu contour reaching up to the towns of Hartwell GA & Abbeville SC
from a new transmitting site about 15 miles south of Elberton GA.

I just wonder how it will do over here in say Wade Hampton Area out to Furman area? It does great as it is but I think thats because isn't the antenna on Paris Mtn?

It should be fine. They aren't moving the tower or transmitter, just the frequency.

As for the Spartanburg county area, with 97.7 Chuck-FM doing so well, Hot doing poorly, and to try to fend off Earth FM, I think they should add 94.1 to Chuck FM. I think it has more potential with the ChuckFM/70s/80s/90s format than the Rhythmic format.
