99.5 FM Friday Evening Broadcast of Cyclones game--- Ugh!

Was on my way home from work and was just flipping thru the channels and came across 99.5FM. I stopped on the station because what I heard was atrocious! Over modulation BIG TIME I had stumbled upon the broadcast of the Cyclones game and the singing of the national anthem before the game started. The broadcast sound is just HORRIBLE. Even through their website it's really CRAPPY sounding... Like someone had taken a transistor radio and a transistor mic and was actually playing the commercials on the air through a cassette deck. It was REALLY BAD... I have to kind of feel sorry for the Cyclones... they have been a good hockey team the past couple of years and it's unfortunate that they have this kind of radio broadcasting for their games.

Not trying to call anyone out at 99.5 FM... but what the heck happened with the game broadcast? Wow... ??? :-[ :-\

The are getting what they paid for. Actually, they are getting what they did not pay for. They don't want to pay anything for their broadcast deals. They feel that the station gets its pay through the Cyclones promotion engine. I say, nothing in life is free!

I'm surprised any radio station would stoop so low as to broadcast their games. How many fans do the Cyclones have? 2? 3? (Oh, wait, that's my guess for the number of BLUE JACKETS fans!)

Now that PPM is here, keep an eye on music stations that air sports in season. Pay attention to the ratings of these stations in summer (no sports) vs winter (high school & college sports). A local rimshot country station near me had over 40,000 cume in summer and dropped to the low 20,000's in winter. I just can't get a handle on the logic...it's exactly what would happen if the local Shell station closed the pumps say 10 hours a week & sold fresh veggies instead...would you count on that station for gas OR veggies?

Why is it so difficult to "get a handle on the logic?" After 7pm, cumes drop anyway. If the Cyclones want to pay you real money for three hours of air time during off hours, do you turn that down to run music and make NO money during a non-core daypart? This is not going to affect the important dayparts, and it will bring REVENUE to the station. Cumes don't matter if there's no money, and if a lower cume DELIVERS THE MONEY, then give me the lower cume in a non-core daypart anytime.

This is a rimshot signal that needs to pull in revenue any way they can. This is NOT a bad decision.
