99.7 KFRC/101.1 KRTH

For the last seven or eight years, K-Earth 101 has been close to the bottom in my opinion and according to my taste. KLDE Houston would be one of the few that was worse than KRTH. KFRC is acceptable. I liked them better when Howard Hoffman was on in the evening. I would listen to KFRC more often the KRTH if I had the choice.

KFRC rocks!! Plays a lot of songs banned from FM -Re: 99.7 KFRC/101.1 KRTH

That station plays a WIDE variety of hits!

In listening at different times of the day and night this week, I heard these great songs and variety...

-BB KING - The Thrill Is Gone
I HAVE NEVER EVER HEARD THAT ON AN OLDIES STATION! WOW! Kind of like RAY CHARLES - even his mid 60s stuff. Zippo on the radio.

-JOHNNY CASH - Boy Named Sue

-JIVE FIVE - My True Story (a gem from the early 60s). I know some poster hear will lash out on how much he hates that type of song. Too much like doo-wop. Get over it. It was a big hit.

-HONEYCOMBS - Have I THe RIght (great mid-60s rocker FORGOTTEN by PDs).
This is one of those "fun" songs that aren't on the radio anymore. More shame on other "oldies" stations.

-NEW COLONY V - THINGS I"D LIKE TO SAY. Good late 60s song that used to be heard a lot more.

-RAY CHARLES - WHAT I"D SAY. Wowwwwwwww. What a rocker! Too bad it's been banned on most FMs these days.

Plus KFRC played a lot of other great songs from a good part of the 1960s interspersed with the traditional oldies fare.

It's like you hear a great song you haven't heard in like forever, it brings back good memories and you realize how low today's FM "oldies" stations have sunk. You hear their potential and then realize how the others literally suck in comparison. Great v. mediocre.

KFRC sounds great. The best oldies station I have heard on FM in recent years, much better than the bland as toast of KONO and KOMA.

I wish KFRC would stream. From what I've heard of it, KFRC is THE best Oldies station Infinity owns, PERIOD. Hope they don't blow it up like CBS and WJMK.

So glad I live within signal range of 3 of the best oldies stations:

WOGL, WJRZ and WVLT have great variety, speciality shows & personalities.

The oldies stations here fit me much better. <P ID="signature">______________
