99.7: Switch in and out of The Bert Show not smooth

Heard the in and out of The Bert Show on 99.7 today. Kinda jagged going in, but amusing going out. As soon as Bert was over, 99.7 played a sweeper: "The New Morning X, with Sean, Leslie and Jenners." OOPS!

LOL

The switch out was amusing. I laughed but yes, they should have been able to do a smooth transition. We caught a little bit of Justin Timberlake on 99.7 before 99X took back over with the old morning X sweep. Funny stuff.

The audio on 99.7 wasn't too good this morning in my estimation. Bert and Jen's mic weren't too high in volume and whenever Jeff came in and spoke on his mic, I had to turn the radio down until he was finished. He was too loud. As for callers on the show, they weren't as audible as they should have been. Note: This was prevalent on 2 of my stereos and also on my car stereo. Was I the only one who experienced this?

I noticed the same this morning when listening regardingthe audio. Should improve by next Monday.

I thought it was just me since I was listening to 99.7 and 100.5 in HD but when switching back and forth between the two, 100.5 did sound better.

I also couldn't help but laugh when the Bert Show was over and the first thing I heard on 99.7 was a sweeper for the Morning X LOL.

OK, now that this has been brought up, I noticed all of this too, AND that Bert's mic sounds much softer and filtered and "fuzzy" compared to Jeff and the rest's. If everyone had been at the same volume and quality as Jeff then it would sound a heck of a lot better.

I am sure it will all only get tweaked and tweaked again this week and we'll be smooth sailing by Friday.

That sweeper for the morning X playing right after the Bert Show signed off was just plain ol' hilarious.

Thank god that poor excuse for a 100,000 watt station is going off the air and is being replaced by one of the best (if not the best) stations Atlanta has seen in a LOOONG time. The Bert Show knows exactly what they are doing and the Q100 staff is obviously creative. It needed to be on a 100,000 watt signal for sure.

I am sure Bert was the one who hit the sweeper.

My only reaction is that if it was Bert who hit the sweeper then he sure did sock it to all the former 99X fans listening at that exact moment. I was shocked that came on the air!

I am glad to know it wasn't my radio acting up. As far as today's show is concerned, the audio was better sounding this morning (with the exception of the callers STILL being too low in volume) but Bert said that when Jeff was playing Guitar Hero 3 on the air, an engineer had to run in and fix the audio. They could still use some tweaking. I hope all is fixed before the flip at 10 a.m. on Friday!

I agree, Bert's mic sounded processed with a mic processor and the mids were pulled way down while another show members mic sounded "raw" like it had NO mic processor at all. You could really tell the difference between the mics this morning.

There was a a one second delay between the two simulcasts.

The Q100.5 broadcast was one second ahead of the 99.7 broadcast being aired.
How is this possible if the Bert Show is supposedly live in the 99.7 studio ?

I also noticed this. Another wild guess here...some type of digital STL? With all the digital technology today, things do tend to get delayed. On the TV side of the biz, it can be a challenge keeping audio and video in sync. You see more out-of-sync audio/video these days than we've seen since the film days. It's all the digital gear in use now.

The offset is most likely due to the delay for HD coding being a bit off. The other option is, one station has the profanity delay set differently than the other.

At the least, the audio sounds so much better now. A caller was on and was too loud but they adjusted her volume during the call. I think they've finally got it tweaked. Good job guys.

If Bert is in the 99x studios, then 99x is broadcasting from Q's (not likely) or from a 3rd studio. If that's the case, then there's alot of patching going on. They've only been simulcasting Q for 4 hours a day. So the feed you hear on 99.7 (though straight from the 99x studios) is still a patch from 100.5's signal. At least for another 2 hours.

If they're switching studios and signals, it's not as easy as flipping a switch. Not if it's being done right and being done for the long-haul. They had two weeks to get this together... give them a break. You people are relentless.
