99.7 The Blitz

After an 18 year stint, Blazor has left the Blitz. This comes after his partner in the mornings Mo and midday dj Theo both resigning.
Sounds like the station may be doing some scrambling.
"BlaMo" is reuniting out of the Columbus market I hear.

Then where would you go besides satellite radio for new rock? QFM is nowhere near the rock station it was when they debuted 35 years ago. Anymore they are classic rock. Move The Blitz to 103.9 and put CHR on 99.7 sounds better.

That or X1067 would flip to Active Rock in 24 hours. Trust me.

NABCO should put Drive FX or Hits from DG on 99.7 (we all know their fan of Satellite formats on 103.9 and AM 920) ...

Then maybe add local morning / drive / night shows.

If anything move the current Blitz format to 103.9.

(If they ditched active rock and didn't move it elsewhere you can bet with a blink of an eye someone else in this market would switch - likely Clear Channel because with a few clicks of a mouse they could have a PC Active Rock format on air faster than you could count to 5)

I remember 106.7 did a active rock and alterative hybryd format when the blitz was the rock but they killed it with Rover's Morning Glory.

If Hal is there, it will remain rock.

Thanks for reminding us! ;)

This is the official announcement from 99.7 The Blitz:

Please read a statement from Blazor as we wish him well after 18 years here at The Blitz....

18 years and 2 months ago I began as the guy you hear every night on the Blitz. I was 23 years old and was just beginning my radio journey. Alot has happened since then...A wife, a daughter, a dog, a chance at being your morning guy here on the Blitz and as my long hair turned to short hair which turned to barely any hair, i discovered the reason i love this business. MORNING RADIO!

What I'm trying to say is I've done alot of growing up behind the mic at 1458 Dublin Road otherwise known as Blitz Central. I'm grateful for every single thing that has happened in my life because it has brought me to this very day. A day which marks the beginning of the next chapter in my radio life. I've decided to do what's best for my Family and my career which is to take another radio gig out of the Columbus Market. Im not at liberty to say where as of yet but Facebook will of course answer all questions very soon.

I can't thank all of you enough for all the support over the years. So as I sit here on the toilet writing this, I mean it, I'm actually writing this on the throne, as I do most of my best thinking on the toilet...I say thanks for all the memories. I'm humbled and actually a bit constipated and the toilet paper just ripped, so I have to go now. Take Care and I'll miss you guys.

and If Hal remains doing "Active Rock" with a big part of his air staff gone... He will keep seeing ratings LESS than WODC :) ... [Never thought I would see 93.3 do so well in this market beating out other well established higher powered sticks.]

Wonder if there will be another "town hall forum" done... My guess is with these air staff changes.. It cant be good for The Blitz overall right now.

Just a 'educated guess' from what I have seen on facebook...I am not an insider, repeat, I am not an insider....but look for BLAMO to reunite on WEBN out of Cincinnati....

If they show up on WEBN I wouldn't be suprised if they don't get syndicated on THE Brew or X1067. That would really make The Blitz look bad.

Why would that make The Blitz look bad?

Ronni Hunter said she is filling in until the new morning show monsters are hired and in place.
She then went on the say that The Blitz is doing a 'major search' for the new morning team
and she insists the morning show will start kicking again once they are on the air.

Maybe another "town hall forum" is in the works to help Hal pick the new killer morning show
show on 99.7 The Blitz?

It's been a revolving door over there ever since Howard Stern left the The Blitz in 2005.

http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=113752

September 1, 2005
The noose keeps getting tighter around Howard Stern's radio empire as WBZX (The Blitz)/Columbus becomes the latest station to drop The King Of All Media's syndicated morning program, citing an FCC investigation "relating to four separate incidents in which The Blitz allegedly broadcast indecent material contained in The Howard Stern Show."

PD Hal Fish made the announcement today that Stern's run had ended in Columbus, stating: "Ever since Howard Stern announced that he was leaving for satellite radio, we have known this day would come.

Of course I don't listen to the Blitz anymore but if I did and I was them I'd say screw the morning show and just play music.
