99.7 WNCK

This was the best standards station I ever heard. I was in Myrtle Beach in 1994 and the TV in my motel room had FM radio which was capable of picking up a lot of stations (my father liked being high up so the traffic noise wouldn't be as loud, and so he could see the ocean, which you can't do any more from that condo development, where I still stay).

They called it "American Music Classics".

The next year a new station at 99.5 was on the air in Myrtle Beach (blocking out 99.7) but it didn't matter anyway because, as I recall, beach music was on "The Breeze" on 98,9 and 99.7. Later 99.7 was smooth jazz, I believe. Nowadays, 99.7 is the home of the top urban AC in Charleston.
