99.9 FM Victoria KSBJ?

On the way back home I was listening to 96.9 KXBJ, they said also 99.9 in Victoria? Why would they need a station in Victoria when KXBJ has a good signal throughout the city? There isn't even a list of a station on 99.9 in Victoria on radio-locator.

Hi! The signal from 96.9 is good many times in cars, but lacks building penetration consistently in a lot of places. Victoria is on the fringe of the signal as the transmitter is located a good distance from Victoria between Palacios and El Campo. Some times when the weather is bad the signal fades and is noisy in victoria. A lot of folks in the area have experienced this problem and have reported it for some time. To give a reliable signal in Victoria, KSBJ was able to obtain use of a translator on 99.9 which has a great signal over the whole area. :)

How good is it when the Tripo kicks in? I know even as close as I am to KTXM KSAB even overrides them a lot of the time.

I miss Ngen radio that use to be on 89.3.

Yep every since it got sold it sounds like a 32kbps stream.

I'm not saying that all the NGen stations I've heard sound good, either. I hope they can improve their quality as well.

I help build the 89.3 site in Victoria when it was just handling KSBJ's main signal..it was weird driving back 59 and hearing the delay between the two (since Victoria was fed via sat)...

I wonder who is KSBJ's engineer now?

Somewhat related: EMF is swapping KRNZ 88.1 in Gonzales for the CP for a translator in Victoria; not sure what frequency. KRNZ's Air1 format was redundant to KVAR in that area, anyway. Perhaps the Victoria translator will be tied in with EMF's KXAI in Corpus Christi?

KRNZ wasn't Air 1 for the last year or so, it was Radio Nueva Vida. They swapped KRNZ for 92.7 in Victoria with a Spanish Christian group out of Laredo.
