YES. Originally 104.1 Cocoa Beach was WRKT-FM and operated with 30kw off one of the WRKT-AM 1300 sticks at about 200 feet. It remained at that power level when Guy Gannett acquired the AM and the FM in 1981 and flipped the FM to country WSSP in anticipation of moving to the Bithlo tower farm in 1984. Once WSSP was operating from the Bithlo tower, power was upgraded to 100kw and the format was flipped to beautiful music as WSSPer (whisper) 104.
Prior to WSSP upgrading, WGLF came in quite well in Ocala. Of course, WANK 99.9 did not exist until Docket 80-90 went into full swing following the March 1987 cuf off date for class C's to submit applications to upgrade to the new minimum full C status or risk being downgraded to a sub class C.
