99.9 The Fan

How many of you think that 99.9 should can the sports idea and just go full-blown classic rock im really diggin this stunt. Comments

??? "A Little "Bird" A little "Yellow" Bird in Orlando told me today..It will be neither...That is " A Little Yellow Bird" or an Orange...in Orlando.. ;D BIG APE

It would certainly be a good way to introduce an HD Channel. I would expect to promos that calls attention to the fact that as of a certain date, you will need an HD receiver.

It also would not be totally inconceivable to hear rock music in some dayparts and sports in others! They do generally appeal to a similar demo.

Christopher,
I agree with you. Here is what I could come up with...
He mentions"The Yellow Bird",which is probably "Big Bird" from Sesame Street, which means Children. WORL 660 (near Orlando), has a format of News/Talk. According to www.radio-locator.com,
Disney is not on any station there (except of course, heard everywhere all over Disney). Maybe WORL is going to change to the "Disney" format and simulcast on 99.9 ???. The only thing I cannot figure out is what Big Ape meant with the color Orange? :-\

Doesn't Disney own ESPN?
Maybe ESPN Radio will be on 99.9?
And they will wait until the Orange Bowl before they make the switch?
Didn't Bruce Williams used to broadcast from Orlando a lot? Maybe it's his network coming?
Or maybe The Little Yellow Bird is a satellite format of a tightly-focused Hispanic region?
How many degrees away from Kevin Bacon are we now? ;D

Sorry Quad,
I do not know ANYTHING about Sports, especially Sports-Radio ??? ???
However, I like to support the local teams. You might even say I am an.... Athletic Supporter ::) ;)

Quad, Damn, you're pretty good..Not all right but good.. Orange. How about ORG, I know Bruce Well..Orange Bowl Nah! Local Jocks Nah! Don't care what WRAL or WCHL or any of them says.. I don't think they know what they are talking about! Do You..Wasting all that Classic Rock and then go Sports! Hahaha You're right too, much sports now and I don't know anything about it either except, I like TEBOW and FLA GATORS for another National Championship.. Thanks Your Friend..In JAX right Now..BIG APE!

The station will have a local morning show...

I know for sure that I'll never host a show on that station. Capitol Broadcasting has never been a very stable company for employees on radio stations that don't have the call letters WRAL. Consider the stable of stations they once had and killed...

WMDE - Greensboro, NC (a looooong time ago...now 98.7 Simon)
WHTN/WKEE - Huntington, WV
WRNL/WRXL - Richmond, VA (plus the Virginia News Network)
WDRV/WLVV - Statesville/Charlotte, NC (they fired Bill Flynn and me from this one)
KMAC/KISS - San Antonio, TX
WXIK - Shelby, NC (Now WIBT - The Beat)

My rule is...fire me once, shame on you...fire me twice, shame on me.

Later....
Matt Smith
WGSR-TV...not been fired from here yet.
