99.9 WKSF moving translator to Cherokee

Looks like a CP to move a translator on 101.3 to Cherokee from Bryson City. I know Cherokee is a RF-free black hole. Looks like a smart move. I'm suprised that CC thought of it.

CC didn't think of it. I suspect you will eventually hear WRGC in Sylva on 101.3 eventually. WRGC's owner used WKSF as the primary signal during the licensing process, because its one of the few FM signals putting a 1 mv over Graham Co.

It was very very smart. But it's not Clear Channel. It's Georgia Carolina, an actual well-run radio company.

I know it has been answered here but whatever happened to WRGC's 1600-1700 band signal?

I think they originally had a CP but WRGC never acted upon it, so it lapsed many years ago. I believe they are presently pursuing moving to 540. Mr. Sutton hangs out here occasionally, so maybe he can advise.

I guess other AMers didin't take advanatage of moving to the expanded band when they had opportunity. WSYD in Mount Airy is another area station that comes to mind.
