99 Country Wheeling morning show

The scan tuner stopped on 98.7 today down around Washington.... I just found it humorous that WOVK's morning show calls themselves Jimmy and Steve.

It would be even funnier if their real names were Buzz and Bill.

Yup. Jim Elliott has been with the Clear Channel cluster for many years. I worked with him and his late brother Rich Collins at the old WK when it was on Waddels Run Road in Wheeling, back in the CR Broadcasting days.

Is Jim Elliot also having to do airshifts (voicetrack or not) on all of the CC-Wheeling stations? I am not sure if he still is around down there, but I remember several years ago hearing WOVK's Ken Andrews on WOVK, the former oldies station at 95.7, and the CHR at 105.5 all in the same day. Talk about being stretched thin...

CC doesn't own Wheeling anymore as far as I know. Surprised somewhat to hear that it's Jim Elliott, worked briefly with him a long time ago.

Unless something has changed in the last few weeks, CC does still own Wheeling. If you guys want to hear something funny, tune into 98.7 and 97.3 during the same time around 10:30. You'll notice something. The same girl is on the radio at the same time. I couldn't believe they'd do that!

Clear Channel still owns the Wheeling group. Deal fell through

While we're on the subject of the Wheeling market, does anybody know the latest on the Key Market situation?

I had also heard the deal with Goodradio fell through. So, for now, CC still owns Wheeling. (and when I say that, they basically OWN the market sans 100.5 and rimshot 106.3)

Because they pretty much own the Wheeling radio market and have extremely low overhead, I once heard CC was raking in buckets of money down there a few years back. Same went for the other WV markets - Huntington and especially Parkersburg.
