99 JAMZ - miami

Damn, looks like 99 JAMZ/WEDR-FM is holding down all the parties in the MIA for Superbowl weekend. Where's POWER 96 and 103.5 THE BEAT? Hate to say it, but Miami Hip-Hop radio dead. Years ago they were party central!!!

105.3 the beat is a clear channel station so dont expect nothin at all from them. This weekend there will be no mixshows, and they only have one local dj on air smh.

Miami's urban radio has been dead to me since Cox thought it was a good idea to shift the format from Urban Contemporary to Mainstream Urban in the early 2000's. Hence why I don't care for any Cox urban station because they all suck...

103.5 the beat was good when it first signed on they killed that when it went urban ac then back to hip-hop

YEAH, WHAT A MESS IT IS NOW. THE CURRENT FORMAT HAS LITTLE HIP-HOP, BUT OVERLOADED WITH R&B AND OLD SCHOOL. IM SUPRISED CLEAR CHANNEL IS STILL HOLDING ON TO 103.5 THE BEAT. THEY'RE TRYING TO SOUND LIKE HOT 105 AND 99 JAMZ COMBINED. NOT A GOOD LOOK.

Miami Music as a whole has always been dismissed especially Hip-Hop. These radio stations are to blame because they don't show love but only to a selected few and if you're not in that circle then you have to pay up big money. I might be off topic on this but I just had to comment it.

Yeah I know Miami has always had there own music style on the Hip-Hop side from Bass to the Boppin' music. Lots of people don't know about Brisco, Iceburg, DJ Chipman and others. Sampling 99 Jamz they really sleep on hometown music.

Exactly, that's why I had to come out with a new outlet for these up-n-coming artist to showcase their talants. I think everyone disserves a chance and let the audience decide whether to bump it or dump it. The same 40 songs is too repetitive and it gets old super quick. That's why most people are turning off the radio and using their mp3 players. That's what I do. I'm so into the music that it disgust me to hear wack sets. One of the very few people I like listening to on a major time from 99 Jamz is DJ Entice. Even-though he's been playing way too much Brianna he does his thing. DJ Khaled slipped off a long time ago. There's some good DJs down here but the PDs don't give them the opportunity to put what they want or even give them a job in the first place. If we had more Hip-Hop stations then they would have to compete but right now you have nothing. The underground stations are a good place to listen to new artist when the DJ isn't talking over the whole song, you know? Anyways... I've vented for today. Peace.

Last time I was there I heard tons of Hip-Hop and Reggae pirate stations. HOT 97.7 was the best one to me. The talking over the music has always been a Miami thing since the Jam Pony Express days.

Yes this is true but back then it was a whole style that went with the music. Now it's just like ..."yea call in ... music... i'm about to play this song ... music ... lay round for that alright ... music ... call me up ... music ... 305-555-6969 ... music ... " through out the whole dam song. There is still some good underground DJs like Prime Time. That dude be spitten with people who call up. And he rides with the song, he doesn't just talk over it. It gets really annoying when these new dudes get on the mic.
