99 Rock Ft. Walton made me laugh out loud

Maybe I'm just in the middle of a nervous breakdown or way to stressed out but...

At the end of today's "Morning Movement" on Ft. Walton's 99 Rock the three jocks gave their final comedy spiels.... ending the show with the line, "Check us out online at FOXROCKSMONTGMERY.COM... hold on, that isn't right." (Fade to commercial)

Oh man, I must be loosing my mind. I wonder if this post will show up at all?

well the post made it to my computer, but it will probably not be there the next time I bring up the website

What's this? Yea, they ARE having server problems, thus the vanishing posts.

How's this for a laugh, Country 105.5 moves down to 99.5 thus ending 99 Rock, 105.5 becomes Mix 105..

Don't F with my 99 Rock man. Take that away and I might just go out and buy one o dem Sirius sattteliter thingiemabobs.

What's even stranger is the website for Cumulus' classic rocker "The Fox" in Montgomery isn't even "FOXROCKSMONTGMERY.COM"... they just made up a website name referencing 99 Rock's sister station up north.

Is it possible the site is fixed? So far this thread appears to be working...

Site seems to be doing better. Crumblass seems to be doing typical. Insiders on their own team making fun of them. You caught some form of plan to VT or get that team to work for free some way some how at a second, or third, or fifth station.

Poledo - is TK still able to rock as hard as it did in the 90s? It was pretty slamming at the time. Back before Crackulush bought out the Hollidays, 99 Rock was pretty decent too. Haven't listened to it in years. 98one Classic Rock was a fun little project back in 1995. Remember it rocking and playing some funky tunes? Signal was a monster, but it may not have carried down your way.

Say not to XM. Unlistenable in my opinion. Had twenty hours of it last week to try figure a format out and it was uninteresting.

Yep. I've heard WKSM DJs VTing day parts on other *** owned rockers. I figured one of the three hosts of the Morning Movement was VTing for the Fox in Montgomery when I heard that line. FWB must be a cheap market for *** to store VT talent and they just let them go live on 99 Rock to keep the jocks happy?

TK seems very popular but I'm just not hip enough for it. Back in the 1990s when it was still owned by Pamal and had live DJs 24 hours a day with the nighttime jocks having a little atonomy I was able to stand TK but today everything they play just sounds like Alice In Chains to me. My last memory of listening to TK was when I won tickets to a Bad Religion concert at around 1 AM. I think I was caller 3, 5 and 10. When I got to the show my name was on the list but they claimed it was only me, no plus 1. Jackasses. I went in and retreaved several of my friends and we left for a keg party after about two songs.

98 1 and Arrow 100.7 were both great classic rockers but neither one lasted long enough to establish their presence. The Rocket from Mobile is the best classic rocker I know of this side of the Mississippi but the playlist is still too narrow and repetitive. I would be sad to lose either The Rocket or 99 Rock from my dial. Besides WAAZ those are the only music stations I listen to anymore.

98one, well WWSF - the signal = was often called "the baby that shouldn't have been born." CCENG can attest to that. It had all kinds of signal issues back before Hurricane Opal (and to some extent beyond). I cannot for the life of me, remember who the con-sultant was in the beginning after the flip from Top 40 to classic rock, but it was an incredible list that was so flexible, it could be whittled up and/or down to literally create three different stations that could have never overlapped and all sounded great. The leaning was toward psychedelic music and then music was kind of picked around that, which was so much fun. It came in #2 after 99 Rock in a book or two. Interesting group of air personalities. I need to ask Steve Riggs if he remembers who the hell that consultant was. I am too old. And I am serious, I have forgotten so much. People ask questions about people and events in the late 70's and early 80's that sometimes takes me a few DAYS to remember the exact name. Lack of sleep for the last three years doesn't help. ;D

Disappearing posts.. Tibbs, you just reminded me of one I posted that got away. Do you remember the TK101 Rock Me Amedeus story well enough to tell it? I guess I should make a new main post looking for the details that I've forgotten...

I really don't think they are censoring, it's a database error. I agree it should have been fixed by now. My posts about the market update are missing, too and the Memorial Day weekend flashbacks - you guys have no idea what a flashback weekend is and ya'll are into radio?? That must be a WLS trademark (they haven't done it in ages) but a small amount of stations did play music from an era. V100 was my favorite, playing songs from the 90s. Mix 99.9 (Mobile) did an 80s throwback weekend. I was shocked.

Same with Coast.

I must be missing something you posted, Rob. What were the previous comments on flashback weekends? I think most of us know what they are. We did an exciting AT40 version of the Beatles most popular songs. Some stations did other stuff related to their format. Some did nothing. I wanted to ask CCENG if we could develop red, white and blue LED strobeys by July 4.

They said on here that they reset the boards back to May 27 (I think that was the day) to get them working properly so the posts after that did disappear. Definitely no censorship. Actually, I think the new owners are very open and honest about the issues and that speaks volumes for the future of this board.

Rob's missing post referred to a specific trend of Memorial Day flashbacks. Flashback weekends = check. Special radio programming for Memorial Day = huh?

I would have loved to hear that, Tibbs. I wish stations would do this more often. I love hearing stuff like this. AT40 was my favorite show of all time
