The iHeart player still says Rock 100.5.
I hear teases about a "big announcement" on Thursday at 7:35am. It's obvious that the launch scheduled for today isn't happening.I am very curious about the new lineup from tomorrow. I haven't read anything about it yet.

That was an unfortunate coincidence. They were already promoting the new Thursday date before the antenna caught fire.Probably because of the transmitter fire yesterday.
I was hoping when I saw the banner that 99X is back, I was hoping it was WXLO 98.7 in NYC, oh well...RAMP reports:
"The Cumulus Format Elves were busy over the weekend in Atlanta preparing for an early Christmas gift to local Alternative fans – the return of the legendary 99X is set to become official at 6am ET today. That familiar brand, which will focus on Classic Alternative hits originally made famous by the original 99X, has been rebuilt on the foundation of Classic Rock WNNX (Rock 100.5), which went dark late Friday night, but had been streaming The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" in a loop since then. The new format will also stream on 98.9 (WWWQ-HD2)."

Yes, and most likely not just Steve Craig.I wonder whether “legal reasons” means Steve Craig has a non-compete.
Their auxiliary antenna is a single-bay that's lower on the same mast as the main 4-bay antenna. They are still at full-power but the signal will be slightly weaker due to the single-bay antenna. I've been struggling to pick it up in Newnan at times. The signal is a hair weaker on the aux antenna versus being on the main transmitter. But not terribly noticeable. Then again it could be that the aux antenna is slightly further away from me than the main. My tuner doesn’t seem to capture the HD as well as it did before.
These segments aren't targeted at you. This station has a lot of nostalgia that is a secondary draw, the music being first. The personalities are every bit a part of 99X. That said, I am enjoying the talk and banter. To me, that's what makes radio, radio. As someone who has zero connection to the personalities of 99X in its heyday, but loved the music mix so far, I’m hoping these talk segments will be cut down in the future. This “Remember When” stuff is a buzz kill for me but I imagine it’s catnip for the Atlanta audience.
Makes you wonder how much of that audience from back then still lives in the Atlanta area or are they are listening somewhere else.
I'm a recent transplant to the area and have been enjoying the format. It was cool to hear the discussion this morning. To your point, they seem to be bringing back community involvement which is what has been missing from radio for years. Good music is important, but feeling like the DJ is a friend is more important. I can listen to good music anywhere. These segments aren't targeted at you. This station has a lot of nostalgia that is a secondary draw, the music being first.
