Has anyone heard this station lately. As of August 1 they are doing 60s and 70s oldies from 6-10 am M-F. The guy hosting calls himself the original Rockin Dave. Does anyone know who he is? The music is actually pretty good and it sounds like old school local radio.

hmmm...interesting.....I know they are one of the better sounding locally owned stations from a on-air standpoint (I havent been to the station since the willis days), and IIRC..they had grass/weeds growing inside the building, it all stemmed from little walts wife (I think) getting mad and driving her car into the building...sliding it off its foundation slightly...lol

...I guess they are trying to go against WCPS 760 in tarboro which has been doing similar for several years now..usually from about 12noon to signoff....I will have to check that out the next time I'm down there

Anything is better than the Willis days [ the days when WBTE was rebroadcasting WBXB via an overly cranked up -clock radio- ::) :D ] Good to hear that Eastern NC radio is trying to something worthy to listen to again.

Where I live someone was DWI and drove a car into a church. They may be able to save the building. There is a guy wire holding the bell tower in place.

Here is the scoop on WBTE. The Rockin' Dave show is hosted by Dave Perry. His show leaves much to be desired, he plays remixes of many oldies and he now is running a speaker for reverb effect like the old days of WABC, but he misses by a long shot. He is on Tuesday through Fridays from sign on until 11 I think.

interesting.....I wonder what equipment they are using in that building...do you know if they are broadcasting at night or not?????

I should have rephrased that question....is WBTE still broadcasting at night, I know they were authorized and granted it at one time and were in fact broadcasting at night with something like 25 watts....just enough to cover the windsor city limits...and at brief times it would become listenable in ahoskie before going back into the noise...

the rumor is that willis has been "padding" some unnamed people at the FCC for many years...he gets inspected, fined and are eventually dropped or reduced...I have visited both the AM and the FM in windsor back in its willis days and posted the photos up here.....the FM's tower wasnt lit for a long time..

I still remember when the "corporate" engineer came down to WBXB...messed with their harris tx..got it to make full power on a soft tube for about 2 min....blew it up...said screw it and left my buddy to rummage around the building for another soft tube to get them back on the air with about 1kw....
