We'll have to wait to see how this whole thing plays out. A 1320 diplex would be a last gasp for Arpin and Co. You'd probably NEED to run 50 kW-D, and at least 10 kW-N to cover Providence decently. Lord knows what a directional pattern(or patterns)would look like to protect CKGM in Montreal, CBW Winnipeg, WNTP here in Philly, and CBY in Newfoundland. I'd think that the towers would have to be top-loaded to 1/4 wavelength on 990 for this to even work well..

It could be that we've been giving these jokers more credit than they deserve. After all, we're talking about a silent broadcast property, and the people running things seemingly don't know where to turn or what to do.

And we're assuming that they want to do something to improve the technical/engineering nightmare at the "PCB dump" in Burrillville......Something that would cost untold amounts of money they would likely be unwilling to spend.

At this point, they may not care about anything except getting out from under the black cloud of "silence". That and, of course, horribly mismanaging thier other broadcast property in town (WARL) to a fare-thee-well.

As you said, time will sort this all out. And, as Ken just pointed out, the clock keeps ticking.

I can almost predict what is going to happen. In December WALE will play a continuous loop of automation for about a month.just long enough to keep the license active.

Yeah that's the same thing the people running 560 AM in Catskills, NY does. It stays dark about 50 weeks of the year and then comes back simulcasting some non-co-owned FM radio station for a week or 2.

i thiunk that trying to diplex 990 from the 1320 site woquld be tough, because it'd hafta beam somewhat north and west, right into the direction of CKGM in Montreal and WLGZ in Rochester, stations it has to protect.... and it wouldnt be easy for 990 to get a very useable day or night signal from the WARL site.

however, a diplex from the 1290 site would be a good idea.
