99X, WWDJ, WAVZ just about everyone used this..

I've been looking for this for a long time but nobody but you has it. Thanks. It's Mort Garson fropm an LP ( I think it was on A&M) called Electronic Hairpieces. It's most famous for being the music used for KCBQ's The Last Contest, that was subsequently sindicated to many other large and medium markets.

Re: 99X, WWDJ, WAVZ, add us to the list...

Nice! Add 97 Rock/WGRF Buffalo to the list of stations that have used Hairpieces at one time or another. Before becoming 97 Rock. The call letters were WGRQ and the station was known as Q-FM-97, one of the first of Lee Abrams' "Superstar" format. I was the station's Production Director from 1978-1985 and 1990-95 (what today seems like the lithic and classic eras, respectively.) -Jim Pastrick

Right and recorded in 1968 and still being used atleast 10 years later, you could probably use it today it would be right at home with all the rest of the "swoosh" sweepers.

Ironicly, in the case of WWDJ it really was "the Last Contest" when it ran in early '74. The 5K had begun signing off at midnight at the beginning of the year and rumor was that it had been losing alot of money and Pacific & Southern had it on the block. I believe one of the prizes was the station's promo van...there's a hint.

I first heard this album while dubbing tracks for a dance company preparing a show at City Center in '83.

In common with most synth/computer music it's rather souless and the melody abit oblique but when I heard this track it instantly rang a bell.
