_ad Song Edits

i never was thrilled about airing songs that had blatant edits in them but with the way the fcc is i can understand the mircro managing of this issue.............my top three that i consistently hear that drive me nutz.................

1. Money by Pink Floyd zzo is playing the 1973 AM 'hit' that cuts out the BS but also 2 1/2 minutes of the song
2. Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult zzo is playing the 1976 AM 'hit' that cuts over a minute of the song
3. November Rain by Guns n Roses; a homeade edit on 99.9 the hawk that cuts over 3 minutes of the song away and just doesn't sound right

Honorable mention:
the hawk and peter frampton's do you feel like we do; i cringed every time i had to play it when i worked there and sometimes would substitute the 13 minute version (the edit is 7 minutes shorter)

wlev and pink's (blow me) one last kiss; i never had a 'shiday' in my entire life
is it worth it to 'bastardize' a song just so you can say you play it????

i started a riveting topic; i did here the full version of 'don't fear the reaper' on 'the other clear channel station Y 102 on friday.....................oh boy i know that will make this more exciting..........

If anything, it shows you how much the programmimg arm pays attention to their library. It always came to light whenever we did a big feature, i.e. A to Z. You would walk in and hear the PD thinking out loud, wondering why the hour ran 25 minutes long, only to find out that Selector had 'Blinded By The Light' in the system with it's radio edit time and was playing the album cut instead. Of course, all the discrepencies were blamed on an intern who did the data entry or the previous programming regime...

Lest we forget the original name of her song "Perfect," which is "[Expletive - starts with 'F'] Perfect."

And of course, from the same artist comes the worst radio edit of all time, from "Get The Party Started," where she warns you that "I'll be burning rubber; you'll be kissin' my Benz."

It sounded like "Kissing mine"
Hall and Oats - She's gone
The Five Stairsteps - Oo Child
i dont like those edits, myself.
Anybody ever heard the version of "Jesus Messiah" played on WPOZ in Orlando? you can really hear there edit for the end of the song. drives me nuts! Unless of corse they didn't edit it, and it was a recorde label edit which would be even sadder.
Free - "All Right now" ( not only is that an edit, the mix sucks that they play on a lot of Classic Hits stations.
Thin Lizzy- The boys are back in town heard on WOGL. I could see edeting it somewhat, but dont trim that much off.
Zack Brown Band - "Toes" just wow. did you have to put that little guitar strumb to cover "a**" really? okay so if you're gonna take out the word, put something better in its place.
Pink - Raise Your Glass (i've heard some edits ware they take out the beep FX in there... that beep I believe thros the song off.

thanx for the reminder about WOGL, they do play a lot of edits especially 70's songs.........i've heard ram jam black betty sliced and diced beyond control on the hawk..........i remembered when i worked at wzzo in the late 80's; we cut the 'foreplay' from foreplay/long time by boston (we were playing vinyl at the time) and i always thought that was dumb.........macklamore's 'thrift shop' is another beauty with the f word allegedly cut from it........

wel now i cna see the f word cut from things, there could be an entire thread devoted to songs that have that word cut from it.

John, i didn't make my point clear about the 'f' word, i don't have a problem with that word being cut from a song but some edits are so bad it still sounds like you can hear the 'f' word........the word 'really' could have been edited into the 'thrift shop' song and it would be family friendly; instead it walks the tightrope where you can hear half of the 'f' word...........

In some cases, the word "drug" is edited out of Nickelback's "Rock Star." This is about the most insane thing that I have ever heard done. ::) Yeah, "drug" is a four-letter word, but it is NOT one of the seven "werdy derds." This is one of the most extreme examples of political correctness that I have heard yet! ::)

Now, if you will excuse me, I have got to go to the (bleep) store to pick up my prescriptions. ::)

Some stations in the Bible Belt edit the line "praying to a God I don't believe in" from The Script's song "Breakeven" (they substitute another line from later in the song).
