A 50,000 watt hollow state AM transmitter

That shows you how well the U.S. embargo is working. What does Cuba need from the U.S. that they can't get from China or Russia?
Both of those nations essentially donated the broadcast equipment used in Cuba.

And the Russians dumped "them" and now the Chinese are adopting a hands-off attitude.

But the issue here is that Cuba can not afford to pay for anything, let alone transmitters and ATUs and studios and the like. They can't find anyone who will even finance replacement gear for their power grid and generators because they have no foreign exchange currency available.

John Deere will sell anything these days, as long as they can paint it green and yellow.
Just like Nautel, they will sell if the buyer has money or financing or a letter of credit. Cuba has none of those.

And make it dependent on proprietary firmware that bars you from independently repairing it.

I loving the future. When icons of Americana are using the CCP to make baby strollers that need ex-CCCP jailbreaking bootloaders to fix a broken wheel, you know you've reached peak civilization.
