A anti-BOB website

LMAO This reminds me of all the crying and whining (from myself included!) that happened when B-94 switched to K-Rock. I feel for you guys...

anti-BOB website

no doubt started by frustrated, sour, ex-jocks.

If these types put this kind of time and energy into their shows, perhaps they wouldn't be out of work or scared of Jack stations taking their jobs.

Re: anti-BOB website

Once again, you prove that you have not even the slightest idea of what listening audiences want. You need to get out from behind you mic once in a while and actually meet some real, live people.

And, once again (as we've gotten accustomed to), your post has nothing to do with anything.

Plus, you know I'm right because YOU are one of those bitter, frustrated ex- jocks who always believes they know better and thinks "like a listener" because they're out of radio.

Actually, I only spent a few months as a disc jockey. My radio background was in news and public affairs programming, plus lots of voice-over work. I reached a point where I was making more money doing free-lance voice-overs for distant markets, and got an opportunity to make even more money writing copy. I also discovered that as rewarding as voice-over work was, acting on camera was even more fun, so I used my AFTRA card as an entry into doing television commercials and industrial training films. When I was at my most active, I used to audition against many working DJs for parts in films and videos, and usually got the parts ahead of them.

And before you get on your high horse, I also worked with plenty of ex-disc jockeys who made the same switch over to commercials and industrial training films that I made.

Not everyone is as hung up on just being a DJ as you seem to be. There are more people working in the media for whom being a DJ was only an entry-level starting job than you probably would like to admit.

Right. Blah, blah, blah. Still nothing but sour grapes.

I've found that most in our business who command the highest respect never tout their accomplishments or feel the need to explain themselves.

Your constant posturing speaks volumes about your perspective (which is good for a short laugh about 99% of the time).

My "constant" posturing is nothing more than responding to your false accusations. I've found that most in any business don't feel the need to act like an (BLEEP) and accuse anyone who disagrees with them of only doing so because they are "bitter failures".

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Go sell a $5 spot on your AM, willya.

Re: anti-BOB

I'm not in sales and don't work at an AM station. $5.00 is kinda high, don't you think?

Only if you're selling on an oldies station in Detroit.

LOL!

Seems our friend OldiesCat is back to his bitter and biting ways. Meow!

Which by the way, EVERYONE on this board should realize by now that this guy has a limited perception of the real radio world in Pittsburgh, even though he claims his experience working at a radio station in Detroit gives him the cred in talking about our radio stations.

Mr. Music

anti-BOB

I'm so hurt, especially being attacked by folks referred to by most on these boards as the 3 stooges.

You guys are like politicians- trying to portray me as "bitter" and "negative" when I'm one of the few who sees the positives in the Variety Hits approach and you morons are the ones tearing it down. It's like you're anti-everything.

The Real Radio World is not much different in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cincinnati or Oklahoma City. What I take issue with is uninformed, ex-radio hacks who see the bad in almost everything and everybody. To those who are truly part of what makes radio great today, you three are absolute over-blown buffoons.

The bottom line Cat is that you are bitter and responds to our true (sure we're not working at a station, but have EXPERIENCE)comments with negative name calling and childish behavior. Read #5 of dahn-nought's post "So Let Me Get This Straight".

You need to open your mind to all aspects of radio. Not just within your studio in Detroit or wherever it is you are.

By the way, I never said anything about your Variety Hits comments. And, I like the way you weaved in a few more name callings in your post.

Once again, bravo for being such a little boy!

Now, now. We don't know if Oldies Cat is a boy or girl.

Re: anti-BOB

Based on his posts, he's either a very old man who's lead a tough life that made him grumpy, or else he's a middle-aged woman on the verge of menopause dealing with chronic PMS.
