Better signals always help.

A better morning show on the Bone would help even more than a bigger stick.
KIOL Houston fired Outlaw Dave this week and there are rumors flying about w&j's flagship. :-X

So where did you get this info?? Nothing concrete has been said on that...all we know is that Outlaw Dave was NOT on the air the last two days and he is no longer on their web site...but we donot know WHY he is gone..he may have left on his own...He MAY have been fired...but nothing for sure yet...

Fire w&j and improve Dallas radio.

Okay, that's why I posted several questions to Outlaw Dave on the Radio-Info Houston message board.
The first question I posed was "Why are you no longer on KIOL?"

We do know for sure he is no longer employed by KIOL/Cumulus and he has been removed from their website, which is always a sign when someone is gone.

One usually reliable poster whose opinion is well regarded on the Houston message board says that he received confirmation from 3 different KIOL employees saying Outlaw Dave was fired.

All Outlaw Dave's website says on the subject is "Elvis has left the building."

If "real rock" would be coming back, I'd be all for it.

But to me, Nirvana and all that other grunge CRAP is not rock. At least with real rock, you can "possibly" sing to the songs.............plus grunge is all so ANGRY !!

In my opinion, you could take ALL rap and blow it up and the world would be a MUCH better place............

my two cents worth of opinion, which probably isn't worth that much. :)

As for W&J, they are TERRIBLE !! Almost as bad as the Nascar Boys, John Boy and Billy............UGH !!

At least KZPS has Bo and Jim. Now those two guys are FUNNY and original !! Sure would like to see them with less of a tight rope around their show though. It would even make it better.

I think that Nirvana rocks. Yes, they are angry. You want cartoon rock all day long ? ? ?

Rap---- "Gangsta Rap" has been chosen by corporate radio to be almost only kind of rap that is aired across America. It's that Lowest COMMON Denomiator thing..... Who Knew??

Bo and Jim...... I could do without any morning "personalities"..... I love Music..... That's what I expect to hear on an FM Rock station..... But I guess the masses mainly just want to be entertained.... not with great Rock music.... but with "talk".....
Ohhh, how far we've come !!!!

It's like some Authority (Hades) has decided that all Rock stations will have the same playlists across the country. Each station/comglomerate then has their choice of contests and "personalities" to be the basis of their market share------BUT NOT THE MUSIC ---- 'CAUSE THAT'S ALL THE SAME!!!!!!

A Better signal for the same old music---- I do not think that is hardly worthy--- but then I am primarily a fan of great rock music, and not the white trash blend that has taken over the airwaves on the Bone.

Back to the original post...KDBN can't be upgraded and moved to Cedar Hill without other stations being re-engineered. It's current tower location is restricted where it is because of KDHT 93.3 Cedar Park-Austin. KDHT is a full class C; KDBN a C2. Minimum FCC co-channel spacing between a C and a C2 is 249 km, the exact distance between KDBN and KDHT.

For KDBN to move south to Cedar Hill, Cumulus would have to pay to move KDHT south or have it downgraded. Moving KDHT likely would involve a further chain of events...

The other suggestion that KDBN would get more power would mean it would be upgraded from a class C2 to a C1. Again, unless KDHT is downgraded or moved, KDBN would actually have to move 21 km north since C1-C spacing is 270 km. Then, there is the issue of being second adjacent to KNOR 93.7 Krum at that point.

The correct thing to do would be to program it properly. It's an urban signal covering large groups of blacks and Spanish dominant Hispanics. It's probably the one true signal meant to have an adult R&B or Spanish-language format on it as opposed to the rimshot signals of 93.7, 94.5, 98.3, 99.1, 101.7, 105.7, and 106.7. If Cumulus is in love with the Bone, they ought call Radio One and swap 94.5 for 93.3 and exchange the formats. At least the formats would each be on signals more compatable with the target audience.
