A big thanks for the Hannity opinions

Radio kids,
I'd like to thank all of you for your valuable input on
the Sean Hannity issue. The Asheville market is so freaky.
Things that work EVERYWHERE ELSE (except for San Fransisco)
just don't make it here. Sean Hannity is one of those things.
I'd like to keep him, but there's just not enough support.
I think the area is Rushed to death and, with all due respect
to Sean, the show is stuck in a 3 topic rut (just like Rush).
Granted, the guy is well-read and well-researched, but there are
more things in the universe other than immigrants, John Roberts,
and the Holloway case. (Four, if you count "Dems bad Reps good".)
Laura Ingraham is going the same way to an extent which is a shame
because she is a smart woman. The rhetoric is becoming a tad non-
informative and oh so agendized.
Anyway, thanks again to all of you. The people behind the scenes
never seem to get the recognition they so justly deserve. The
majority of the people who take the time to post and reply on this
board are the driving force in radio.
During a time when radio is lumped in with all of the "other"
media we tend to carry the negativity that TV and print get.
It's good to see people who actually still care about radio.

Radio rules! (at least until the FCC has a hissy and shuts us down)
I'm tired from all the brown-nosing,
Have a gret dane,

Didn't a poster go through the hour-by-hour and show that Sean is out-performing some number of your other offerings?

So, after many answers on multiple boards (including some of which are contrary to your beliefs about the performance of the show), you arrive exactly where you started in spite of what you were told -- at your own preference?

What was the point?

The point was to find out whether there was enough interest to keep
the show.
With all due respect to the gentleman who posted the results of our
earth shaking ratings, it still isn't enough to keep Hannity.
What I needed was information to re-inforce what I had thought
all along. IN THIS MARKET, Hannity doesn't cut it. His show has
been attempted twice before with NO RESULTS!
I personally like his show even though as of late he's in a rut.
(When I say "rut" I mean it sounds like a broken record, same stuff
different day.)
If someone can show me I can sell Sean, market Sean or even get
an identity with Sean Hannity, I'll keep him!

"At my own preference" - what exactly does that mean?

No question, he's not exactly setting the woods on fire for you, but ...
I'll make you a bet:

1) If the lead-in remains the same
2) and if the replacement isn't another local host currently on the air in the market (i.e. one with a built-in audience)
--then Hannity's current performance will exceed anything else you put in the timeslot.

If I'm wrong, I'll owe you one free hour of scraping Avery labels off of carts the next time I'm in town ;)

The replacement WILL be a... well I can't say... yet,
but I will say that the cross town rivals will need a
tweek in THEIR programming.

I was wondering if I needed to get an intern to do that for me.
I'm off to get some fleet razor blades right now!

Caught part of your morning show on Wednesday morning. Not bad. Seemed like they were on top of current events, and having fun talking about them.

Question about Hannity? If you drop him, where will he go? And will that hurt you even more?

I know Asheville is a pretty liberal town - maybe the most liberal in NC - but if that is true, why does WWNC do so well? If you are going to replace Hannity, find a LOCAL LIBERAL! See how that stacks up in the afternoon. I suspect Matt would talk about it on his show. Hard for even good syndication to beat an established local show.

Um, no. I think one brainless, check-bouncing, we'need'to'get'a'life
radio station in this town is enough.
Wow, did someone pee in my wheaties or what?!?

Spindoctor, how many times do I have to tell you...STAY AWAY FROM THE RAZOR BLADES!!!! If you hurt yourself, who's gonna run the board at 'ZNN so I can hear Ken Bagwell every day?!

As for Hannity...I've kept my opinions to myself before, but since I'm chiming in anyway, why not...

Hannity's show has turned into nothing but a three-hour commercial for his TV show, with heavy doses of the Roberts nomination thrown in. I know CDs skip occasionally, but I didn't realize that was a problem with live radio. I mean, tune in once, and you can just skip it for a week, because you'll be hearing the same thing.

You know what I don't get? Why on earth don't you put Bagwell up against the egotistical loud-mouth on that other station. Has anyone considered this?

Does Sean Hannity cost money, or is he brokered?

I was amazed when Rush started charging the little stations, and then, of course, everybody. Not so much that he could get away with it, but more so that these station owners and managers - small town and large - were throwing money at him that they said they couldn't possibly spend on local talent.

Normally it's $500.00, but we got him for $200.00
due to a prior station the owner had him on.
