A Blast From The Past: Two Bay Area TV Stations Switch To Retro Programming!

I have noticed that two Bay Area TV Stations have switched to retro type of programming. KCNS-38.1 San Francisco moved its Chinese Programming to 38.2 and moved RTV to the main channel of 38.1 which means more viewers since the main channel is carried on cable and Dish Network. Also Independent KFTY-50.1 in Santa Rosa has picked up MeTV as its main affiliation. So much Classic TV! As well as more Horror Hosts (Wolfman Mac for KCNS & Svengoolie for KFTY) in addition to Creepy KOFY Movietime (Brian "Balrok" Hall & No Name) and Elvira!

Also in Sacramento 40.2 has Antenna Tv and 8.2 has RTV. The problem with 8.2 is that it is low power and RTV has many digital hang ups but they are eminating from the station itself as it has strong signal strength at my location. I love some retro programing, but oxygen generator, power chair, and reverse mortgage ads are a little scary.

But 8.2 is too weak for it to be picked up in Stockton. Really wished that Comcast would pick up RTV. Also another low power tv station, KCSO-33, carries the other retro channel MeTV on its 33.2. Again, too weak for it to be picked up in Stockton. At least the two Bay area tv stations are full powered tv stations on their main digital channel.

KGMC 43 in Fresno, a full power station, with a signal at Meadow Lakes At 4500 Ft in Elevation above sea level, from Modesto, maybe Stockton, to the north, to Kern County, to the south has Antenna TV on 43.5 and ME-TV on 43.6.

Nah, I can't pick up Fresno stations either. Ever since all tv stations switched to digital, the days of DXing television seem to have disappeared.

I'v seen conflicting information about KCSO/ 33's actual digital frequency. Two sites report it on vhf channel 3 ( I thought lower channels wern't used anymore) and another site lists it on 11. In any case, looks like and outdoor vhf antenna pointed in the right direction would work.

KCSO-LD is on channel 3.

KNSO-DT in the Fresno market is on channel 11.
