Question for Geoff Cook, and others who are in the know
How does a station like 99.3, with its transmitter on Block Island and barely makes the 12+ ratings in Providence and New London (I guess), know that they need to change its format? I think in the past 12 or 13 years (going back to the old free-form rock WBLQ), the station has had 4 or 5 different formats. I like the idea, and I guess the station would only really work away from any large market. Are there research consultants that survey the Washington/Newport County areas that helps smaller stations make formatting choices?
I'm guessing "the bridge" is a reference to the Newport Bridge, possibly the Jamestown Bridge, even though the station's stick is on Block Island. Perhaps one day they'll build a 13-mile bridge from Point Judith to Block Island. Just busting!
