A change coming to 94.5/1250 AM- SA?

Energy 94.1 is promoting a "New Sound" coming to 94.5 & 1250 am.

No other details.

Let the guessing games begin.

Maybe the southern 94.5 has nothing to do with it, and the two SA signals are getting ready to change formats to "Star Radio"? There's already a Star 810 AM in town, so not sure how that would go over. Star 810's website shows a not found message but they are still streaming. http://37.187.90.196:9456/stream

Turns out it was just a rebrand. Sports Star 1250 & 94.5.

Turns out ESPN San Antonio was simply renamed Sports Star and it's mainly a change in sports pundit.

I wonder what KYTY (Star 810 AM) has to say. They have a working website by the way, I was wrong. Star 810am

I'd wager not much.. i doubt either stations audience knows the other exists

You're probably right.

BTW I realized where Sports Star got it's name... When KEMA was on the air fully for a few days in April 2015 with Texas Country I heard it calling itself "Lonestar 94.5". ESPN SA must be copying from that. But if KEMA ever signs on again fully, there may be trouble between "Sports Star" and "Lonestar"...

I doubt they are copying a name from a station outside of Corpus that is not even on the air. And which the ESPN station staff likely never even heard.

I suspect that the reason is far simpler: a sports station with that name in the Lone Star State is a lot easier to brand than "ESPN".

Where in gods green earth do you come up with these goofy ideas that have no basis in reality?

and as for being probably right, i know i am.. you usually usually get stuff so wrong

Because in some parts the ESPN brand has become toxic?
No, because four letters are less of a brand than a name associated with state pride.

This is sort of like the transition of stations decades ago from using only the call letters to station names and brands... easier to remember and much warmer emotionally.

Sports Star and Lonestar, they're half just like each other. As for being wrong it was a guess but I rest my case.

Also KEMA's new site is a lot closer to San Antonio than it is to Corpus. https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=ke...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en
Heck, even their old site is/was.
