A change in the WDRC-FM jingles?

I couldn't help but notice that some of the jingles (sweepers?) between some songs, along with the top-of-the-hour legal ID, changed on WDRC-FM on Friday. Charlie Tuna is still voicing the beginning of the ID...but are the singers in error already? I think they sing "WDRC, WDRC-HD...Hartford." Shouldn't that be "WDRC-FM, WDRC-FM HD Hartford"? ???

According to a reliable source on another radio board, there are no clear rules for IDing HD signals. Because the AM is not doing HD, I believe "WDRC-HD" in the Legal ID is correct.

I just heard the new jingle, and at the end it goes "WDRC-FM, WDRC HD1... Hartford." so the FM is in there, but only in the portion that is IDing the analog portion.

I think WDRC is sounding really good since coming off of their Christmas Only Stunt. I hate to say it, but it is almost sounding as good as WCBS out of New York.

Its just too bad they need to go to Tom Kent at nights instead of keeping it local. (And Charlie Tuna on the weekends isn't my cup of tea as well.)

Any word on when they are supposed to start streaming?

Never. Grahame Winters keeps fielding that question in the Facebook group and the answer is always the same: No plans to do so. I guess Buckley is still determined to avoid any extra costs -- either the extra compensation for unionized voice talent, and the cost involved in scrubbing spots voiced by unionized talent from the stream. Funny how every other chain -- and many of the locally owned stand-alones -- around the country has seen value in getting its signal out on the internet (increased traffic to, and advertising on, the station website, for instance) but Buckley still clings to the same excuse it made when it pulled its stream off broadcast.com (remember them?) in April 2001.

It's amazing how independently owned stations like WLNG, WGHT, or WXHC have the money to stream...hell, even college stations like WVCR (88.3 The Saint) near Albany, NY or WJPZ (Z-89) in Syracuse somehow have the money to stream, and in stereo too!

there are SO MANY abuses i hear when it comes to streaming, i hear national commercials running, syndicated shows with their commercials, just about anything goes! i don't think whoever "Looks" for these things could ever find even 1% of stations who stream "Restricted" content, and i can't remember the last time i heard of anyone being busted for it. ridiculous! DRC-FM should stream, after all WHO is listening to HD? NOBODY! how much money did that cost VS streaming which is availible to virtually ANYONE.

A small update on the WDRC-FM top-of-the-hour ID: They inserted "FM" when the singers just said "WDRC HD-1 Hartford" beforehand. Sounds a bit odd! :)
