A-Channel Ottawa/Pembroke Website Not Yet Up

I just noticed (10:30 P.M. Eastern time, August 2nd) something interesting in the revamp of the websites of CHUM's television stations.

There seems to as yet be no website on-line for the newly-rebranded "A-Channel Ottawa" (officially known as CHRO).

I typed-in www.thenewro.com, the website address of the prior branding of CHRO, expecting that I would land on A-Channel Ottawa's website, given that typing www.thenewvr.com led me to the new website for CKVR-3, rebranded as "A-Channel Barrie/Toronto".

Instead, I found myself on CKVR's new website.

I can understand this problem; this has probably been the busiest day ever for CHUM's webmasters since they had to launch six new "A-Channel" websites (Ottawa/Pembroke, Barrie/Toronto, London, Wingham, Windsor, and Victoria), three new "City TV" websites (Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton) and a new look for the existing City TV websites for Vancouver and Toronto. Perhaps it was inevitable that there might have been problems with one of the new sites, in this case, CHRO's.

The citytv and achannel.ca sites are set up to remember your 'local' station. thenewro.com, as of about 8am, pointed to achannel.ca, which remembered you as Barrie local.
Edited by ian on 08/03/05 02:50 AM.
