A contest for a job on 102.5? Seriously?

Someone explain to me how this makes sense, I mean I figure there are a lot of talented people across America who are or were in the radio field who could apply for a job, but this makes it seem like an America's Got Talent cattle call, presented by... Bud Light!

Such a contest is not unheard of. New York's WFAN has been doing the "Fantasy Phenom" thing for years, and while the winner isn't handed a daily slot after Mike Francesa, it does get his/her foot in the industry.

Nobody lost their job on Friday. Most of them moved to 102.5, another to 101.5 and one's on Wild 94.1.

im just wondering what they are applying for, if other Cox stations are downsizing at the same time. I have a close family friend who went, and she wasn't a finalist but she did get a business card form Mike Oliveri personally, asking her to follow up on Monday.

At less hours, less pay, or middle of the night shifts... it's a little disingenuous to say people weren't negatively affected.

Just guessing this is an attempt to fill on-air overnight slots with low or no pay staff.
