A couple of MW catches from Downunder

Hi

A couple of nice MW catches.

COLOMBIA Bogota 1460 HJJW. Caught a nice ID here at 0800UTC w/ "Nueve Continente". Best ID I've
heard yet. 11 May 2007

PERU Lima 1320 OAX4I Lima Peru - WOW what a catch! Popped up nicely w/ a "Radio La Cronica" ID. 0757UTC 11 May 2007 ;D

One station that has been booming in night after night this year has been CPN Radio 1470 from Lima Peru. Best ever signal. Clear enough to hear using the 6khz wide AM filter w/ little splatter from nearby aussie 3MA 1467.

Oh, Australia is also been testing DRM on both 1431 & 1701 lately. The 1701 is currently off ATM.

Cheers

Curious...have you ever heard any MW stations from the United States? If so, which ones?

Yes, heaps! over 100 of em from 38 states. I've only recently solved a mystery Spanish 1520 which turned out to be KGDD 1520 from Oregon City OR. ID is either "GDD Radio" or mostly "GD Radio".

Maybe its changed. Can't see what else this 1520 would be.

you didn't even BOTHER to reply to my emails despite the fact you offered to help.......

I never got them. I wondered why you had not replied. Again, the e-mail is in my profile.

1520 in Portland is called "La Gande" (Spelled "La Gran D") as it is a 100% network delivered format from the Bustos Media HQ. One of my associates in LA was in Portland over the weekend (he consults a Spanish FM there) and confirms it. The company policy is to use the calls, in English, once an hour in the FCC mandated legal ID.

http://www.bustosmedia.com/eng/home.html is the home for all the Bustos stations.

David has correctly ID'ed the mystery 1520 :D. It is XEJCC from Mexico - which IDs in a mix of Spanish & English. JCC certainly does sound very similar to GDD (especially when you add in the noise of DX).
