You think they'd have more security than that. I always used to wonder about this on shows like "Mary Tyler Moore," "News Radio" and "WKRP." I used to think anyone could go in there.
Of course on TV everyone always leaves their front door unlocked so anyone can come in.
I know WGN-TV in Chicago is a nightmare to try to get into. Security is very tight there. I had a temp job for a couple of days. I got ushered in through the back, (I was just there to enter data) and pushed into a small cramped office and that was it. Never saw nothing or no one.
WIBW has a receptionist who can buzz you into the lobby. The surveillance video shows the guy in the outer lobby using a heavy lamp to break the glass after the receptionist refused him entry. They'll replace the door and windows with heavier glass and remove the lamps from the outer lobby.
I would be more concerned about employees walking through dark parking lots at 11:00 than anyone trying to breach a TV station.
