A Damn Shame

Hi Folks,
I saw the earlier postings on what is happening in Charlotte to help
out the Katrina victims and I just want to take a second to let you know that there are some absolutely pitiful radio stations out there in WNC. What do I base this on?
Well, we all know of the horrible tragedy in the Gulf states, right?
And this should be a time of coming together and helping out as much as possible. Radio stations across Western North Carolina are banding together to hold donation drives.
I applaude them.
A local Hendersonville station, not so much.
A local restaurant is donating time, food, and money to the relief efforts.
They contact me asking for help... I give it, no second thoughts.
I was told by the manager coordinating the drive that she contacted a Hendersonville AM.
(that will remain nameless for their own good)
She was told by the second in command that unless she was an advertiser or willing to spend quote "a whole lot of money", the station wouldn't do anything to support the effort. I called the "guy" and got the same rhetoric, plus he hung up on me when I told him how pitiful he and his station really is.
Personally I understand the bottom line of sales and profit.
BUT, and here is where I start to lose the PC attitude I normally
carry, THIS IS A DONATION DRIVE TO HELP OUT THOSE WHO ARE ACTUALLY IN NEED!
The second-in-command at this unnamed station makes me sick.
The media needs to come together (to the best of their ability) during this
time of need.
Lest we forget that WE ARE PUBLIC SERVANTS! Check out your license application folks you'll see that!
This station needs a good smack.
Let me know what you think.
Am I off in the weeds somewhere?

No. And I think I can make a pretty fair guess which station it is, probably the one with the political screeds on their website.

We're running relief spots. There but for the grace of God, go I. What's happening in NOLA is beyond any other tragedy we've suffered, and if this second in command guy holds his attitude, then 1. he will never be FIRST in command - thank God, and 2. he is an ****** and karma's a bitch.
