A diffferent twist to Indie

From Kurt Hanson's newletter promo e mail just received comes this, showing that there is a different side to Indie that could contribute to its survival.

L.A.'s Indie 103.1 has made a big name for itself lately, using local support for its somewhat edgy FM broadcast to drive its rapidly growing online presence.
The station's webcast was recently named "Internet Radio Station of the Year" by a popular awards group.

Read more about Indie 103.1's success, including how the station's different approach to programming and rebel image have helped give it added notoriety, in today's "RAIN: Radio And Internet Newsletter," online now at http://www.kurthanson.com .

How unfortunate that Kurt's final comment has to be a reality check:

How long the station's owners continue to let the freak flag fly, however, remains to be seen.<P ID="signature">______________

I was going to post the link but David beat me to the punch.

Remember when Channel 103.1 World Class Rock migrated from over-the-air to the Internet back in September 2000? Maybe that was an experiment before it's time. Portability is still essential for Internet radio to progress as a viable option for success. I guess we shall see eventually if Indie will try it but if they did wouldn't THAT be ironic?
