A DVR for your radio?

I am awake at odd hours....and sleep late ;-) so I don't get to hear many morning shows.

Over the years, I have had timers hooked up to boom boxes, and recorders on my computer to record times when I can't be near a radio. All of which were cumbersome and prone to failures. ;-)

There was a service called dar.fm that offered a "DVR for your radio". I even got an introductory membership, but it proved to be a little too complicated for what I wanted to do....and had limited space for storing recordings, etc....and you couldn't download them to an MP3 files, etc. More bother than what it's worth.

So....radio-eggheads.....what is the best way to "DVR" a radio program? Quality isn't the utmost concern...but practicality and work-ability is higher up on the wish list)

I would like to check out some early morning and overnight radio in the Boston area and would like some suggestions.

Anyone....? Buehler?

AudioRecordWizard from http://www.nowsmart.com
Timer goes up to 1 day in advance.I think it costs about $25.Records in mp3 and there are different settings.Maybe WAV too but WAV takes up a lot of file spaaaaaaaaaace.

Audacity is free and the timer can be set further into the future but you may also have to download LAME- encoding.

Audio Record Wizard:
Set to line in or Computer Sounds. In latter case, tap into their stream and hope for the best.
Line in on ARW:
On stations in your area--if you have a component stereo, use adapter --RCA type or whatever they're called on end of stereo (one for each speaker), and 1/8" plug on other, into the Line In of your computer (only one).
Set timer and tune to station.

TuneIn pro version ($10 one time?) on phone app or site may have a timer.

CCrane may have a model or gizmo for you.

I've used Replay Radio for years. It'll even convert after recording to whatever format you want. It does cost money though, $2.95 a month or $29.95 a year. You can download it for free to try it out, but it'll only record for a few minutes at a time so you'd really need to subscribe to get good use from it. http://applian.com/replay-radio/
