A Few Laramie, WY Tower/Transmitter Pics

4 bay for K244FN 96.7 Laramie, WY 250 Watts at 1000 feet. Gets out better than you’d think and does well to the east in western Cheyenne but about 1/2 mile to 1 mile away KRQU with only 110 Watts gets out better t the north at the same height because of no terrain obstructions.

The 4 bay was originally KIMX 96.7 Laramie, WY. It moved to 96.9 Nunn, CO.
KIMX was reborn as a new C2 on 104.5 licensed to Centennial.

One of the religious folks got a translator on 92.1 here in Laramie, sold it to Appaloosa Broadcasting who moved it to 92.3 and it was on a tower 1/2 mile away.

Claiming interference from Cheyenne rimshot KYOY 92.3 Burns, WY they moved K222CH to 96.7 as K244FN and reused the very original KIMX 96.7 antenna
Powered by a BWTX V2 running 192 watts.

My OCD just kicked in looking at those pictures. Look at that telecom backboard. Neat, clean, totally professional. People who take pride in their work. Then look at those racks. Absolute mess, wires hanging everywhere, unacceptable. People collecting a paycheck and not giving a sh t about their work. And that roof. Have they never heard of wire troughs? PVC conduit? Disgraceful.

Alot of what you see was inherited as is is where is ... the main in the picture behind the FM10S and by the AM antenna is the new owner. As time allows everything will eventually get cleaned and neatened up where needed or necessary. The AM antenna on the roof was a bit of a haphazard install..its grounded to the pipe behind it which is grounded to the STL.

The AM has to move again and it will get re done neater.

The current, new owner buts his carcass to do things right. He does his own engineering.

I totally understand. They needed a new owner. And an owner who is willing to get his hands dirty and do the job right could work out very well. Plus he has good people to back him up, apparently.

He told me once something along the lines of..... i had to learn how to do it myself so i didnt wait for and depend on others. Betgween us, we know enough people that we can call on when he gets stuck. He knows I like tech stuff, so I tag along because it gets me out of the office

I wish I could participate! It sounds like it would be a fantastic learning experience!

Alas, I've got no credentials or practical experience, so I would be of little help (if anything, I'd probably get in the way).

I'm also a little over 1,125 miles away.
