A few OTHER "predictions" that didn't happen

Just to prove that I am not the only person who "predicts" things, only to have them not happen, here is a list of some "predictions" that were made here from October 2004 through September 2005 that didn't happen. None of these were made by yours truly.

Hopefully this will dampen the enthusiasm of certain people who think predictions should be revisited ...

Indie will quadruple billing (10/2/04)
KLSX will move Frosty Stilwell to mornings post-Howard (10/6/04)
Star will flip to a Spanglish format (11/16/04)
Someone will flip to A/C while KOST is all-Christmas (11/20/04)
Indie will flip to "Chill" format (11/22/04)
K-Earth will have major format change (12/14/04, 2/18/05, 6/3/05, 10/9/05)
KJLH will pick up Tom Joyner morning show (12/20/04)
KLAC will not switch to Sports (12/28/04)
Conway & Steckler will be let go at KLSX (1/13/05 - well, that one was <u>half</u> true)
Indie will go Hurban (2/13/05)
Rick Dees coming back to mornings (2/22/05)
John London to do mornings at KMPC (3/8/05)
Dees will replace Johnny B. at Arrow (3/17/05 - ironically, later that day Arrow itself was replaced by Jack)
Charlie Tuna out at KBIG (4/1/05 - turned out to be a very clever April Fools Day gag)
Wendy Williams will replace Steve Harvey at The Beat (4/27/05)
Hot 92 will flip to Reggaetón (5/17/05)
Conway will quit KLSX over Steckler firing (6/24/05)
Star will flip to Talk, with Mancow in the morning, when Howard leaves (8/25/05)
Star will flip to Rhythmic (9/2/05)
KBIG will flip to "The Brew" rock format (9/25/05)
Recuerdo will flip to La Kalle (10/9/05)<P ID="signature">______________

This just proves that not all predictions are created equal. The credibiltiy of the poster must be taken into account, and frankly, some people have more of it around here than others.

Thank you for getting the point. If I had said that, I'm sure I would have been attacked over it.

BTW, some of those predictions were made by the same people who keep making predictions about a certain station's ratings, and demand credibility for those predictions, so your last statement is particularly germane. (They know who they are, and are also the ones who cry "foul" when called on it.)<P ID="signature">______________

Aren't predictions just guesses, anyway? If they are advertised as predictions I don't see how anyone would confuse them with actual knowledge of inside information, if such statements were described as such.

Re: A few OTHER

It's really has to do with the way things are said.

Example: I know KIIS-FM is going to change to classical tomorrow

It doesn't seem very likely that KIIS-FM will change to classical tomorrow

Example 2: I think that KKGO (1260/540) should change back to oldies because....

Do you see the difference? Wording and context is everything.

You left out "I heard that KIIS-FM is going to change to ..."<P ID="signature">______________

Re: A few OTHER

Yes, I absolutely agree with that, Kyle. I don't recall the exact wording of what I've seen on here, but that would be crucial.

I wish they both would :)

Re: A few OTHER

Is this the "my feelings were hurt because I didn't know everything....
but see...neither did some other people" thread?

And Rick Dees isn't on KIIS???
(a joke...snse of humor...get it?)

No, it isn't.

No, this is the "why do you people think I am the only one who should revisit their predictions" thread.

I got it. Sadly, I got it.

BTW, Kyle also left out the "word in the hallways at CC Burbank is that ..." in the list of "statements that would be taken as predictions".<P ID="signature">______________

Exactly. Seems the hallways at CC are usually the last to know".
