A few questions for Outlaw Dave

E

Emarti

Guest
It would be great if Outlaw Dave would answer a few questions either here or on his website or somewhere.
As you can see, I don't work for the Chronicle. 8)

Outlaw Dave,

*Why are you no longer at KIOL?

*Will you return to the Houston airwaves?

*Would you consider another time slot or format?

*Do you think Rock is dead?

*Who do you think has the best morning show in Houston?

*Do you agree with the political statements of the Walton and Johnson show?

*Do you think that w&j are an asset to KIOL?

*Would you describe the KIOL morning show as "team players" who work well with other dayparts and departments?

*Do you think a market the size of Houston should have a morning show that has to divert attention away from Houston to pretend like they are local in Baton Rouge, La or Biloxi, Ms?

*Do you think the fact that w&j have to divert time and resources to servicing stations out of state, not even owned by Cumulus is a factor in Walton and Johnson's low ratings at KLOL and then KIOL?

*Can W&j's lack of success in Houston only be attributed to signal problems?

*Do you consider Stevens and Pruett or Walton and Johnson the Radio Gawds? Who was better?

*What is the ideal relationship that an afternoon drive talent should have with a morning show at the same station?

*Do you think that corporations such as Clear Channel and Cumulus prefer on-air talent with conservative values? Do they cater to the more evangelical wing in each community regardless of local community standards, such as in more liberal cities?

*Do they prefer on-air that does not smoke marijuana or advocate its' legalization or decrimilization?

*Do radio companies have an agenda or direction that they are trying to steer the music?

*How do you feel about the decisions made about music in Houston radio the past few years? What about morning shows?

*How do you feel about media consolidation the past ten years?
How has radio changed the last few years? Was radio better before 1996?

*What is your ultimate playlist? Who would be your core artists?

*Do companies like Clear Channel and Cumulus restrict more music than even small town stations in years past?

Dear Emarti,

If you just got fired, would you like to be pelted with questions?

You don't like W&J. Everyone gets it. Let it go and listen to Air America while you still can.

I'll post anytime I feel like it without concern for your opinion. :p

I'm not the only person here who doesn't like w&j.
Maybe you should let it go; it'll prepare you for the day soon when w&j are let go. :D

I wouldn't mind and neither would most radio people I know.

I like W&J... have been a listener for over 10 years. Anyone who regularly listens to the show doesn't see them as arrogant. It's those who don't listen and aren't "10 %ers" that dislike the show...and with good reason.

If the day came that I got fired, I surely wouldn't appreciate people wanting to play 20 questions with me. Have a little respect for him while he's going through a tough time.

The only time you post is to whine about W&J. This time you're pretending to ask questions for Dave when it's really more tired W&J griping. Go wet somebody else's bed.

Just going to say that I have a great amount of respect and admiration for Outlaw Dave. I'm giving him the chance to voice his opinion on the above topics. Outlaw Dave should've remained at KIOL and w&j need to go back to Louisiana.

The above questions are legit and Outlaw Dave has the chance to either respond here or elsewhere or not at all. No one is forcing Outlaw Dave to even acknowledge this post. He can either answer some or all of the questions or none. Others in radio can discuss the above questions among themselves whether they choose to post their opinions here or not.

If someone doesn't like a topic, ignoring it makes it go away faster.

So what?! You don't get it. It's not like you're outing me for secretly disliking w&j; I've been open about my dislike for their morning show for a long time.

walton&johnson have failed in the ratings at KLOL and KIOL. It's my opinion that they are a burden to whatever Houston flagship station that would have them.

Yes, I know, w&j were used to listeners not having an outlet for their opinion before the internet. W&j like to tell people who to vote for, call names, and spin the news supporting the GOP at all times, and oh yeah, walton&johnson supported this war in Iraq from day one and every Republican politician like Rumsfeld, Rove, and Rice even though w&j never served one day in the military, or their kids.

Yes, I understand you wouldn't want Cumulus employees to dwell on the above questions.
I would also invite all Cumulus employees past and present to answer the questions posed above. I would love to read Jim Pruett's opinion.

Fire w&j and improve KIOL!

P.S. Yeah, I know, walnut doesn't like it when the names of the "Gawwwwwwds" are spelled with lower case letters, but it just goes with their low class show.

Why are W&J still there?

Probably to drag down the ratings of KIOL. ::)

My guess is one of the following -

KIOL will become the talk station in January and W&J will be the morning show, or
Clueless hasn't finished their housecleaning yet, or
W&J has some compromising pictures of someone in management at Clueless.
