KOFI has been tough for me I've only caught it once right before Chicago sunrise.

Good going with KOFI!!!

I always hear KOFI near sunset to about 5am in the morning because there's a semi-local, KLAY on 1180 and it always comes in in the daytime.

All are interesting catches!

Never tried for KOFI, I'll keep it in mind if I am ever conscious at 4:30 am! The stations on 710 and 860 are particularly good catches around here. In the case of 710, it's tough to pull much out of the slop from WGN (at least where I live) and when I do it's generally WOR. As for 860, I have always gotten the CBC French station from Toronto. That comes in consistently well here. Never have tried for 1050 at night, though I get the local from Kenosha during the day and critical hours.

I've tried for KOFI, but so far no go. I get the same stations you do BRNout. If I get anything on 710 it's also WOR.

Okay this isn't long range, I am hearing WTTN 1580 from Columbus, WI and WHIT 1550 Madison, WI daytime, now that Lake Geneva and Aurora are off the air now. I am on the eastern side of Crystal Lake, IL... BTW can anyone hear the 20kW Radio Disney outlet from Belleville, IL on 1260 during the day in the N/NW suburbs of Chicago?

Wow, nice catches! WTKA was fairly common in Madison, Wis. but I never heard any of the other three stations up there. My only Montana catch up there was KGHL-790 - amazingly weak - and KOFI is another what, 300 miles? Nice haul!

Last night at about 7:30 pm, I picked up an ID from WWKB Buffalo from my location 25 miles NNW of Chicago. That's my first catch of KB from this area!

Also pulled in what I am pretty sure was CHOK 1070 from Sarnia, Ontario. They were broadcasting the Red Sox/Blue Jays game at that time. As it was an affiliate of the Blue Jays network, that narrowed the suspects significantly - giving me confidence that it was CHOK that I was picking up. Came in well at times.

By the way, I did hear the Radio Disney signal at 1260 from my location with a 2-3/10 signal. Also got WOWO during the earlier part of my session (6:30 or so) with some nuisance hash from Univision's 1200 - a station that actually doesn't come in all that well here.

That's great that you pulled in Buffalo. Here in the Chicago area I used to try for WKBW back in the 60s, but usually KOMA rolled over it.

It was still daylight here, which would preclude pulling in KOMA (or as it's now known, KOKC). Given the hour, it's possible that WWKB had not switched to their night pattern yet because I have never picked them up here after dark. Still trying for KOKC now and then and haven't had any luck here.

When I was in Salt Lake last week, KOKC pounded in there - as did KTNN (with an awesome signal). Interesting to hear their Navajo chant program (they're usually country) - some had a little English mixed in!

'KB uses the same pattern day and night....with a huge null to the west. Diplexed with WGR. There's a station on 1530 near Erie PA less than 70 miles from WWKB's stick. As for CHOK, I'm sure that's what you had. They're on the Jays radio network, and fairly regular around Chicago at night. Daytime, they have a pretty nice signal around the east central lower peninsula of Michigan, as well as southwest Ontario.

I've picked up CHOK lots of times. Usually right before sunrise.

I heard the chant program for the first time last week; it wasn't right near sunset either, but well after dark. Houston should be behind the null, but it was pretty clear and interesting listening, if I do say so myself.

I was getting WRPQ 740 from Baraboo, WI before 5:00 am today (with its mighty 6 watts of power - about 110 miles) and WNOE 1060 New Orleans before sunrise here, as KYW had just about faded out completely.

Do you think 1060 New Orleans was still on night power?

Do you mean religious WLNO-1060? WLNO's sunrise (power change) for May and June is 6:00am CDT.

CHOK would blast into Lafayette IN when I lived there in the early 90s even with WIBC 45 miles away. CHOK was doing oldies with the "GTO-Good Time Oldies" Network at the time. Recently I've gotten daytime reception just west of Cleveland.

Oops, Yes, I meant WLNO...WNOE is the old call sign from way back when....I heard WLNO around 4:40-4:50 am Central Time.

I still think of them as WNOE also. I used to pick them up regularly at Chicago sunset in the late fall right before their power change when they were still WNOE.

I used to get the old WNOE regularly in Chicago in the late fall/early winter right at Chicago sundown before NOE went to night power.
