A few thoughts about Zenner and Dillon

Tom -

I hope you know what you're doing. A writing career? If what I hear is true, and you're trying to start a publication along the lines of "Bill Denney's Sportsbeat", I really wonder if you know what you're doing. The problem with those types of publicationsis they rarely tell you anything you didn't know already. If you manage to take the publication in a direction similar with the way New Times counters the newspaper establishment, you've got a chance.

Still, ruptering your gig at 12 for this...man, you better know what you're doing.

Kim,

If the truth's on your side, it'll come out. If it's not, get help.

Oh, and Channel 3, when it comes to on-air talent, it's not "an internal matter". You can't shove your personalities down our throats, and then when they make a mistake, run and hide.

With so few Phoenix residents following local teams exclusively (I'll guess that the number is somewhere near zero), I doubt a strictly-local publication would work here. Anything else would just be a 3rd-rate clone of Sports Illustrated or ESPN Magazine.

She didn't commit a violent crime, nor was she under the influence of any substance, legal or illegal, as far as we know right now. I think she'll be forgiven in time.

If the County Attorney/s office doesn't file charges, she could easily land on her feet in this market somewhere (even if it is at KFNX like Jim Howl). She should defintely get some help if needed, but that's strictly up to her and her family. I wish her the best and if she does have some kind of problem, I hope it's taken care of.

That's the problem with having a public job, whether it's an actor, musician, ballplayer, news anchor or politician. Everything you do, on the job or off, will be scrutinized by the public and the media - especially by competitors. That's part of the territory and if one wants to do one of these jobs, he/she has to deal with it.

Channel 3 has to cover their a$$es, not only because she was an employee that they fired and there are federal laws covering such matters, but it has to be getting embarrassing for them since it happens every few years. Other than Carla Foxx and LinSue Cooney's husband (an incident that she had nothing to do with), I don't remember any "issues" with Phoenix broadcasting personnel other than KTVK employees in the last 10 years.
