A First For 1050 ESPN?

The latest PPM's say they notched a 1.1 last month! Is this the first time that this frequency has ever broken the 1 mark, even counting the old WEVD days?

There's very little competition for the male demographics since Opie Anthony were booted off WXRK. There's Mike&Mike and Boomer& Carton and......what else? Same in afternoon drive.

Speaking of afternoon drive on 1050: The last couple of days, I was expecting Michael Kay to be pre-empted for "ESPN Radio" coverage of the baseball playoff game that was airing that afternoon, but heard Kay's show instead. Nothing against that, of course; I was just surprised that WEPN was able to get around the edict of carrying play-by-play at least during Kay's show.

The afternoon baseball playoff games are being carried on WNYM-AM-970 Hackensack, NJ/New York. Thursday night's N.Y. Rangers-Washington Capitals NHL game was carried on WNYM as well, while the Cardinals-Dodgers & Red Sox-Angels playoff games were carried on WEPN-AM-1050.

See NYC Market thread on "Looks Like 970 Is The New Overflow Station For 1050":

WEPN's highest 6+ share in PPM was a 1.4 last December, and 1.1's in Nov '08, Holiday Book '08, Jan '09, and Feb '09.
As WEVD, 1050 never scored above a 0.4 (Persons 12+).
Before that, in its little more than a year as the original home of WFAN, the peak share was a 2.3.
Of course, prior to 1987 the frequency was home to WHN, which managed a couple of 3.9's during its fifteen years as a country station.
